COMPLETE[PLAY]Alice Sit-by-the-Fire by Barrie - thw
Drat. Drat. Drat. (The following also PM'd)
Archive has the play "Alice Sit-by-the-Fire" by Barrie. They say 1919.
https://archive.org/details/alicesitbythefir19barr/page/n2/mode/1up
BUT - it says on the scan - below where it says "Copyright, 1919, by J. M. Barrie" - that it is "Copyright, 1946 (in renewal), by Lady Cynthia Asquith" So not PD in the US - unless anyone can prove that the renewal was not granted....
Gutenberg has the play as well. https://www.gutenberg.org/files/6965/6965-h/6965-h.htm
BUT - it starts out as text for the first half of the First Act before changing to normal play format halfway through that. And some of that text is not the same as the script at Archive - it isn't just the formatting.
Anyway, I'd like to still do the play, but it will have to be by the Gutenberg version. It will be much harder to find lines in the first half of Act 1 for characters that speak at that time, but the other 2 1/2 acts will be okay. (I'll work on converting the beginning of the Gutenberg text to script - it but it will take a while for me to do.)
*Gracebird: Ginervra definitely has some lines that differ, so there will be so rerecording to be done. Are you willing to do so?
*Adrian: Rollo hasn't entered yet by the time the Gutenberg goes to script format, so your lines MIGHT be okay; there might be other line changes in other places too. Are you willing to check and change lines if required?
*jennlea and Kitty and Bookworm360 - you haven't submitted your lines yet and maybe you haven't recorded them yet either?
Thanks, Todd

ok, I seem to understand that Grace and Adrian both will re-check their recording with the script beforehand. So I'll hold off on PLing those files for the time being, so we won't make double work. I'll PL the edited versions then.
Grace: I don't think you need to re-record from scratch, most of the parts are surely identical. I would suggest, listen to your recording while reading along with the script and if something is missing/different, just Spot edit in that case.

Thank you and Welcome to Librivox.
Please complete the One Minute Test so we know your equipment is all set up properly before you do any recording.
You will find a set of detailed instructions posted midway down the forum page 1 that may be helpful.
When you claim a role in a Dramatic Work, you do all the places that that character has lines. Alice, for example, is on all 3 acts, not just act 1. Note also that the sections in the MW move around a bit.
Any questions? - just post them here and we'll all be glad to help.
Thanks, Todd

Why are more astronauts from Ohio than any other state? Because it’s so bad that they want to leave earth entirely!

Thank you, and again, sorry for the script troubles.

wonderful, how lovely. Ginevra really sounds like the over-romantic teenager who feels she is so grown up already because she knows life from drama plays You played her to perfection. I really enjoyed the performance. Looking forward to the next act.gracebird wrote: ↑January 9th, 2022, 2:33 pmHere is the updated version of Ginevra for Act 1. Length is 6:43.
