Though I was an English major, I now prefer audiobooks to reading. I'm almost ashamed to say that.

Anyway I just stumbled upon this forum and wanted to say HI and I intend to help with the reading.

I also have a podcast, hopefully linked below. It's very edgy, similar to Howard Stern, but I like to think not as lowbrow. So you're warned.

Welcome pk! .... no need to be ashamed about listening to audiobooks... they are the same words afterall. No one would ever say that a visually impaired person is a less of a reader because they listen to audiobooks or read Braille.

Now if you were listening to abridged audiobooks, well, then, we might give you a hard time about that ;)

We're glad you're here, join us for some reading or even do some proof-listening for us in the Listeners Wanted forum: http://librivox.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=21

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask =)

Welcome to LibriVox, pk!

I've got to admit that, since I've become involved with LibriVox, I've started to purchase professionally-read audiobooks. I'll never improve if I never compare my own work with those who are better at it that I am.

So hop right in to one of these projects. I'd recommend starting off with something brief, because it does take a little practice to get used to the way of doing things here at LibriVox. The Weekly Poetry piece, or one of Aesop's Fables is a good place to begin. You can find them in the Readers Wanted: Short Works section. Or, if you feel up to it, jump right into one of the more challenging projects. This is one of those projects which offers many paths to help.

It's great to have you here, pk - it's always nice to hear a fresh voice in the mix!

Hi PK. Welcome to LV. There's nothing wrong with a good audiobook. Sometimes it's just not convenient to read a book (like when you're driving!)

Well whenever you're ready, there are plenty of projects to jump on so feel free.

Weirdly enough, I actually see people reading books and newspapers while driving all the time. Scares the hell out of me - particularly since I'm driving a motorcycle!

We need to lobby for an MP3 player in every car! ;)

Thanks guys. I'm going to try to get something done today. This seems like a really great community.
