Speaking of trains, I'm guessing our novel is set (and written, in fact) just before the time when trains would have begun to criss-cross France — presumably lessening the felt distance between Paris and places like Tostes.

Hmmm. I wonder. But what a moustache-biting villain! Gives rats a bad name.

PL of sections 21-24 is ok. The final letter from Rudolphe confirmed his status as villain-in-chief.
I’m now reading the novel but not aloud :D

Given that you're reading the original, I'll be most interested in any thoughts you may have on the translation. Quite beyond me, that!

I have uploaded:
Section 26: https://librivox.org/uploads/craigdav1/madamebovary_26_flaubert_128kb.mp3 (20:27)
Section 27: https://librivox.org/uploads/craigdav1/madamebovary_27_flaubert_128kb.mp3 (4:51)

Really, this just gets better and better (as a novel, I mean, certainly not for Emma).

PL of sections 25-27 is fine.

I've to disappoint you! French reading always remained work for me and I wanted to enjoy this novel. Therefore I'm reading a translation.

Ha! Not disappointed at all. Enjoyment is very much the point with this... but oh, a sticky end is approaching, I fear.

edit: Let me know if any changes are needed. It will be nice to have a solo English recording of this book. Hope the partying in Melbourne doesn't interfere with your recording.
Hi Dave,
I've now added a description of the novel to the first post in this topic (I had not provided one previously). I understand you will need to copy this onto the Librivox project page at some point.

Please don't feel under any pressure whatsoever to rush through proof-listening the latter stages of this novel, Susanne. I know our audiobook will be 'finished' eventually, and I would much prefer that, as this recording's first listener, you get to the enjoy the listening experience as much as possible (Plus, of course, I need you to be in good shape to discover the boo-boo that always seems to find its way into my last day or two of recording a work.)

PL of sections 28-29 is ok.

In section 30 please check at about 22:18 where you repeat this passage: "Then the child grew cold and asked for her mother. Call the servant,” said Charles. “You know, dearie, that mamma does not like to be disturbed. Autumn was setting in, and the leaves were already falling, as they did two years ago when she was ill. Where would it all end? And he walked up and down, his hands behind his back." The rest of the section is fine.
