Tina
29:17 and 30:16 background noise;
take a listen to 30:56-32:51. There are several instances of rustling background noise, some more distracting than others, with a mike tap at that 32:51 mark. You might want to rerecord all or part. I'll let you decide; at 31:50, which falls during that segment, text define, heard defined - so that might be during a rerecord and taken care of that way;
33:58 text restive, heard rustic
I didn't hear anything goofy in the silence this time, so let's cross our fingers on that!
Thanks,
Verla

I've heard back from Jonathan (joldsworth), I'm just waiting to see if he would like an extension, or to give up his section.
Thanks

In the interest of speeding this project along a bit, I'm going to claim Sections 5 and 6.

Here are Section 5 and 6:

No rush to PL though, Verla. I'm just getting the recording done because I won't have much time to record in the coming week.

I didn't PL this whole thing. There is something going on in the background through much of it that is a soft rattle/tick/whir. I first noticed it at 14:04-14:06, but listen to other examples at 18:32, 18:43, 20:38, 21:35, 22:20, and 23:02. It sounds like maybe a printer is running in the other room or something? Please give a listen and tell me what you think. You can mostly hear the noise during brief silences in the narration, but once my ear caught it, I kept hearing it behind even much of the speech.
FWIW, prior to that I had made these two notes:
1:17 text - already; heard - always
13:58 text - the first place; heard - the place
Waiting for a clever signature line to occur to me.

It was raining really hard when I recorded this. I think it must've shown in the background more than I suspected. I'll see if I can clean it some more. It was torrential! Any annoyingly when I edited this, it was still raining hard outside so I found it difficult to differentiate if what I was hearing was on the recording or if it was outside in real time
My wake up time is ingrained into me have a good weekend Verla!

29:15 text: possible; heard: probable
Though I will be spending the rest of the weekend thinking about the concept "pure monkey." This guy is pretty funny sometimes.

Okay so I've done some editing. I really hope it's an improvement. I think you must have a keener ear than me because I spotted some of the issues but it was quite subtle to me. Let me know if it's still too distracting - I may have to re-recordvviera wrote: ↑October 29th, 2021, 10:17 pmHi Jake -jakemalizia wrote: ↑October 29th, 2021, 2:50 am https://librivox.org/uploads/kathrinee/civilisation_05_carpenter_128kb.mp3 - 35m10s

I'm going to listen to it with cheaper headphones. I use a pair of studio quality that a sweet friend of mine who has a background in music recording and radio gave me. It's great for my own editing, but I doubt that many LV users are going to listen to our content using something like that. I'll let you know.jakemalizia wrote: ↑November 1st, 2021, 10:43 am Okay so I've done some editing. I really hope it's an improvement.
