I'm putting 3 together and it sounds good. Thank you.
Moving on to Sections 4 and 5, can you please paraphrase these lines for me (don't record them, just tell me what they mean). I'm guessing it's something about a stream at night?

"Whyles owre a linn the burnie plays,
As thro' the glen it wimpl't;
Whyles round a rocky scaur it strays;
Whyles in a wiel it dimpl't;
Whyles glitter's to the nightly rays,
Wi' bickering, dancing dazzle;
Whyles cookit underneath the braes,
Below the spreading hazel,
Unseen that night."

Yes, the project is working in the background. I am splicing our two parts together little by little, and I intend it to be complete by the end of September, pending being hit by a hurricane. Thanks for proofing.

That’s fine. I’m MCing a project where the soloist said “oops, I forgot about it”, while working on multiple other projects :lol:

And as for proofing, I noticed they needed doing and was avoiding cleaning the bathroom 8-) (I’ve done it now…)

I would DPL a project if the irreverence of the author might be too much for people. That's just a bonus. And I get to read and hear Scottish dialect. Absolutely. I've no particular knowledge of Scots, but I know some about the sound changes/difference from my avid listening to the History of English podcast!

So they get posted in MW when the two parts are stitched together?

Let me know if you'd like to sign me up.
Cheers, VERLA

I am happy to have you sign on as DPL, but you'll have to be patient on this one. Since Ida hit my home town, I'm squeezing LV chores into the wee spaces between big chores like tree removal. Even though time is short, I cherish every moment I can get for LV, and this project is especially dear to me.

Thank you, Verla. While you are waiting, you might want to peruse the catalog of projects I've put together that this Burns project goes into:
Ingersoll Lectures, Famous People

In fact, I think this one will be the final book in that collection.
Yes, Col. Ingersoll was a colorful character, who loved to effuse gratitude for the things he appreciated, and ridicule the things he didn't. He is fun to read.

Yes, I will post the link in the MW and in a post when they are stitched together and ready for PL. Section 3 is almost ready to go.

My aim was to find an authentic Scotsman, and I think I've done that! Enjoy! :D

Enjoy I did! Looking forward to the rest. Kay, truth, auld lang syne brought a little lump to my throat. And I may spend some time wondering which of the three boys the cuckold coward is. But to the business at hand.

I heard one thing.
3:51 text: sprang heard: sprung

I wouldn't think it was a dialect issue, since "sang" in the next line is pronounced as I would expect.

Other than that, wonderful. Please let me know if you want to redo that line/stanza/whatever or if you want me to OK as is.

Thanks!

Sprang, sprung won't be too noticeable (like who knows what Burns actually said) so go ahead and mark it PL OK. Section 4 coming up soon. :D

I don't know if Kay is still around to make any changes. I've PM'd him today and hope he responds.
