I've tried something a bit different from my usual. Let me know if my attempts to imitate drunken singing at a few spots in the monologue are too raucous for the poetry collection and I'll re-record, just sort of chanting the flower songs...

Thank you Craig, Bruce and Joanna! MW updated with PL OKs!
There are countless of ways to deliver a poem, and there's no wrong way I like what you did there; it offers some further diversity to the poetry collection!JoannaHoyt wrote: ↑June 7th, 2021, 5:00 pm I've tried something a bit different from my usual. Hi Matt! You're ready to roll! Your recording setup is great! All tech specs correct and volume at the desired levels!
Optionally you could try the Noise Reduction in Audacity, but really your background noise is low enough to ignore. If you'd like to try and see if it makes any difference, here's info about Noise Reduction: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Noise_Cleaning#Noise_Reduction_with_free_Audacity_2.1.0_and_later_versions
Welcome to Librivox, and to the Poetry Collection! Have fun here!

These are both PD in USA, Mack is also PD in Australia but I think Mackellar is not. I won't pretend to be familiar with Australian copyright law, but Wikipedia says it's Life + 70 years (and Life + 50 years for deaths before 1955).

First selection starts out strange, but with a nicer twist at the end.
Borrowing Brains by Charles William Wallace 1865 –1932
https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/65564
4:03
https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/spc217_borrowedbrains_lcw_128kb.mp3
(slightly different from the actual title)
I don't think this author is in the LV catalog so here is a wiki link: (not that Charles Wallace )

======
The Broken Hearted Gardener by John Ashton 1834-1911

2:04

Old Ship Church by Crawford Jackson
https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/65571
1:16
https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/spc217_oldshipchurch_lcw_128kb.mp3
I couldn't find any information on this author at all.
I wanted to include this poem because I have worshiped in this church. We lived in Hingham, MA where I was pastor of another church and my daughter and the daughter of Old Ship Church were classmates in elementary school. The name Old Ship come partly from the interior design of the building which is said to resemble the prow of a ship. Still standing strong!

I had a wonderful poetry session! Thank you, M, Matt, LeeAnn, and Larry! Everything perfect and PL OK!
Hi,
I just uploaded this fun little poem. I don’t do impressions (at least not well) but had in mind an Ed Wynn type character as father William, if anyone still remembers him (i was a wee lad when he passed)
