It's too late for this project but do either of you think for something similar it would be OK to not read the massive tables, just put them into a PDF which was uploaded to the project page and linked? So that those who needed the info had a chance to see them? Finer details would need to be worked out but I think it could work .

Definitely, Anne; but I think it would need "reader's notes" in place of the tables, to point to the external files.

Having read a couple of very technical solos, I really do feel that the LV policy on reader's notes needs to be a little more flexible.

A word I'd not encountered before ....
"... the mere human street-sweepings--the great living mixen..." (mixen - pile of dung or refuse)

Mayhew's journalism is showing at the end of this section: "It is hard for smug-faced respectability to acknowledge these dirt-caked, erring wretches as brothers ..."

It's a great idea.
I agree with Peter: Reader's Notes would be necessary at certain points. Also, anyone using Librivox for reasons of problems with their sight may 'miss out' if these are not available aurally. (I have no idea to what extent this is the case, and I appreciate they are not the most riveting material, but I suppose someone may be searching for / wondering about some of the information contained therein. But maybe not

)

The last couple of sections are 'extremely' literary and (as he often does) use whole chunks Mayhew had previously written and published. He certainly sets the scene.

I suppose it would be possible to have tables saved as both PDFs (each titled to give its location in the recording) and all recorded together as a separate sound file, with an index recorded at the front, giving timing locations for each table within the sound file. I'll try that, next time I read a book with lots of tables.

Edited Sections 93 and 95 are PL okay.

If possible, could the names of Sections 65 - 69 be capitalised? That's my fault for not doing it in the MW. If not, no worries.

It is possible, but I can't work out your pattern

65-69
73-75
are all lower case.
If they are changed on the project screen they will change on our catalogue page, at the moment you can't access it but I can make it so you can. If you let me know what time you will want it I can unlock it. To cope with time zones just say "in 19 hours" or something then I can take your message post time as I see it and add 19 hours.
