Hello all! My name is Kat and I am an aspiring Audiobook Narrator/Voice Actor. I have never used a forum before so I am grateful for any advice and feedback. Thank you for your time to listen :)

Using Audacity with a Windows laptop and a Analog mic:

I reviewed your test sample and some changes are needed. LibriVox requires audio that is 128kb constant bit rate, mono, and between 86db and 92db, preferably 89-90. Your sample is 68kbps, variable bit rate, and just 69.4db.

Raise the recording volume on your mic, either on an interface if you have one or the recording input level in Audacity. If necessary, adjust the volume level before exporting by going to Filters>Amplify.

When exporting your MP3 from Audacity, be sure to first check Bit Rate Mode - Constant, then select 128kb from the pull-down menu, and check Force Export to Mono.

You can verify your audio yourself by downloading the free Checker app: https://cgjennings.ca/projects/checker/

Please record a new test with the same file name and post it as a reply. I’ll return and review it for you.
