Hi Lauren

I reviewed your test sample and some changes are needed. LibriVox requires audio that is 128kb constant bit rate, mono, and between 86db and 92db, preferably 89-90. Your sample is 192kbps, stereo, and too loud at 94.9db.

You will not be able to use GarageBand. GB does not have a mono option any more, and I believe normalizes to 0db by default. Download and use Audacity or another recording software. GB will not work for LV.

When exporting your MP3 from Audacity, be sure to first check Bit Rate Mode - Constant, then select 128kb from the pull-down menu, and check Force Export to Mono.

You can verify your audio yourself by downloading the free Checker app: https://cgjennings.ca/projects/checker/

Please record a new test with the same file name and post it as a reply. Someone will meander by and review it for you.
