This is our 29th collection of short pieces, poetry or prose, fiction and non-fiction, in several different languages (except standard English) as listed below. All chosen and recorded by Librivox volunteers. (Summary by ToddHW)

Since the current collection (028) is full and cataloged, here is another one. Kazbek will be BC, I will be MC, and Sonia will be DPL again.

This collection is for short works, in any language except (modern) English. This can include poetry but also prose, fiction as well as non-fiction.

Feel free to choose any work which is in the public domain. If you're unsure what we mean by 'public domain', please read this explanation. Try to stick to works that run less than 60 minutes.

Please follow the instructions in this post carefully. There is no need to "sign-up" before recording; please remember that you should choose a work that is Public Domain in your country AND in an edition that was published before 1926 to be PD in the US; if you are unsure about anything, please post here and ask before recording!

Everyone can contribute as many recordings as he/she wants.

It's OK to submit readings in English (English being a language, I figure), but as there are plenty of other places to put those, let's limit them to special cases such as interesting regional dialects or accents.

No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Make sure you add this to the beginning of your recording:

Need noise-cleaning?
Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The latest version of Audacity is recommended for noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.
Save as mp3 file
File name all in lowercase: msw029_[work's title]_[author's last name]_[your initials]_128kb.mp3
(e.g. msw029_chunsi_wang_drb_128kb.mp3)
Put file name all in lower case, the title all in one word, drop articles (without the square brackets, please, and NO SPACES)

Example ID3 V2 tags - do not worry about tags. These are done automatically when cataloging.

Transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.

古詩十九首 Gushi shijiu shou (Nineteen Old Poems), by Tong Xiao (501 - 531)

Nineteen Old Poems (simplified Chinese: 古诗十九首; traditional Chinese: 古詩十九首; pinyin: Gǔshī Shíjiǔ Shǒu), also known as Ku-shih shih-chiu shou is an anthology of Chinese poems, consisting of nineteen poems which were probably originally collected during the Han Dynasty. These nineteen poems were very influential on later poetry, in part because of their use of the five-character line (Chinese: 五言诗; pinyin: wǔ yán shī).[1] The dating of the original poems is uncertain,[2] though in their present form they can be traced back to about 520 CE, when these poems were included in the famous literary analogy Wen Xuan, a compilation of literature attributed to the Liang Crown Prince Xiao Tong. The Nineteen Old Poems have been supposed to date mainly from the second century CE.[3] The gushi, or old style, poetry developed as an important poetic form of Classical Chinese poetry, in subsequent eras. The authorship of the "Nineteen Old Poems" is anonymous, however there are indications as to the authorship in terms of class and educational status, such as the focus on "the carriages and fine clothing, the mansions and entertainments of the upper classes", together with the literary references to the Shijing.[4] One of the tendencies of these poems is towards a "tone of brooding melancholy." Great, thank you, Ling! May I ask why you split your recording into two separate files? We accept files up to 72 minutes in length, so generally these would be combined in a single file.

Ok, great. Then I'll also mention two other technical points: the filename should contain only lowercase letters and we ask readers to tell us the duration (mm:ss) for every upload.

wow Bernd, I really enjoyed this story and the ending was quite cool. Another approach of what really happened in paradise Very interesting.

The text itself is perfectly ok. I was wondering though whether the story is not a bit long for the short disclaimer...in the first post you can see that only for sections under 500 words we can use the short disclaimer. I would think this one is longer So we need the full intro.
