CoyotesGrin wrote: January 29th, 2021, 7:33 pm I hope it's not an inconvenience, but I ended up switching my story. Tokgabi was more of a description of a mythical creature, so I thought I'd do a more proper fairy tale and post the Tokgabi one in a different collection.

Title: The Sneezing Colossus, from The Korean Fairy Tales
Author: William Elliot Griffis
Source: https://archive.org/details/koreanfairytales00grif/
Recording: https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/mlaw007_sneezingcolossus_griffis_lw_128kb.mp3
Length: 06:00
The Sneezing Colossus is PL OK

Terrific recording!

(Just a side note that since this is sitting right at the 86 dB level, a little more volume in future recordings would be nice for listeners. Nothing needs to be changed here, though.)

I'll be happy to MC this for you. I'll get your MW set up.

Hi, MaryAnn :)

We need an author added for the meta list:

Frederick Hadland Davis (aka Frederick Hadland and F Hadland Davis)

There is no Wikipedia page for him, but I did find him in the WorldCat: Davis, F. Hadland

Hi, Shobha!

Yes, you did an excellent job of including all the information I needed. :)

I have two PL Notes for you:

First,

Here is your personal Reader Page: Shobha Anand.

You'll see that it lists all the projects you are a part of, both complete and in-progress. It also has a link to the lists of all the sections that are assigned to you for recording and/or prooflistening. Very handy!

Second,

This is a really great first recording! Checker tells us it needs just one edit for the noise

I am only familiar with the Audacity software. If you are using that, too, here is how to do Noise Reduction:

Fixing that is an easy edit, one that most of us do on all of our recordings.
  • Open your recording file, and then:
  • Zoom the track bigger so you can easily highlight the ending silence period. (Just click and drag your mouse across that stretch.)
  • In the Effects Menu, select "Noise Reduction"
  • Click on "Get Noise Profile"
  • Click Control-A to highlight the entire track.
  • Re-open the Noise Reduction effect and for now use these numbers:
    Noise Reduction: 12
    Sensitivity: 6
    Frenquency smoothing: 3
[*]Click OK[/list]

Now you can export to mp3 just like before and upload the edited file the same way you did the first time. Don't forget to post here again with the link. :)

Very glad to have you in LibriVox!

Your story is loaded, with the title correction noted, in the MW and queued for PL. It will be listened to either tomorrow or the next day. :)

Hey, Shobha-

You don't have to re-record - you can download the mp3 from the link in the Magic Window on the main post of this project. Just right-click the link and save the file. When you open it, you can still do editing.
