Don Rodriguez; Chronicles of Shadow Valley by Lord Dunsany by [Edward] Lord Dunsany [Plunkett] (1878 - 1957).

This project is complete and all audio files can be found in the catalogue: https://librivox.org/don-rodriguez-chronicles-of-shadow-valley-by-lord-dunsany-2/

Volunteers outside the USA: [Edward] Lord Dunsany [Plunkett] died in 1957. The author's work is still protected by copyright in places like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years, Australia (author's death plus 70 years for authors who died after 1955) or Canada (author's death plus 50 years), UNLESS the rule of shorter term applies. <p>
Dunsany's first novel, begun during WWI. It is set in Spain's Golden Age, and features the adventures of Don Rodrigues as he sets out to seek his fortune after the death of his father. There is no Dulcinea but there is a Serafina, and although no windmills, there is a forest like that of Sherwood. And some bad guys, too. (Summary by Michael Broschat)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/4282
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hello! Welcome to Librivox!

Let me MC this project. I understand it's an already recorded work.
I will set you up with a magic window, and come back with a few instructions.

Magic Window is in place, and this should cover information on how to fill it in and update it: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Soloists:_How_to_update_the_Magic_Window
First you'll need to create a separate login for the workflow, so start from the section "Accessing the System – First Time Login"

For the files to conform to the Librivox format, use the intro/outro and filename specified in the first post. I think you've already sorted out the tech specs. After you've uploaded your files, they will be proof-listened to check these points, as well as to make sure the upload went through OK.

Please ask if something is unclear! And since you've already recorded, well, have fun editing and uploading

Will you be able to populate the magic window with the necessary information? (mainly the chapter titles as you'd like them to appear on the catalogue page, and the links you've posted above) The magic window is the way into the catalogue :D

I linked to instructions above for how to log in. By creating a login for the magic window, you'll be able to control the magic window for this and any future projects, but if you're not planning to do any more projects after this one, I could help you by filling in the magic window for this project, so you could skip creating a new login for now.
Would you post the section/chapter titles so I can just copy and paste them in?

I have moved the thread to the Going Solo forum.

I have listened to the first two chapters, and I have some notes for Chapter 1:
I noticed some text missing in the recording, around 2:50, here in bold "for you have a way with it that goes well with the old airs of Spain. And choose, my son, rather a moonlight night when you sing under those curved balconies that I knew, ah me, so well".
At 13:32, there is a repeated phrase from the previous paragraph, that can be removed "Mine host said nothing, and Rodriguez who seldom concerned himself with the past"

Chapter 2 sounds good.

Sorry, the thread disappeared on me, and I thought no more attention was needed. Will address the earlier issues you mentioned.

I'm glad you have found it! I will advertise for a proof-listener for the rest of the files.

Thank you, Linny and Julien! That helps a lot! Good to mention the ending silence, if it's the only thing wrong with the recording, we'll make do with a couple of seconds! I'll mark it PL OK in the Magic Window!
