[COMPLETED] Henry IV, Part 1 by William Shakespeare - kit
I also uploaded these rolls twice. The first time, they had a double .mp3 on the tail.

I don't know if they will need deleting.

Thanks, Craig! Don't worry about misnamed files; they'll be deleted when the project is cataloged.
In the meantime, I can mark 4.2 and 5.4 PL OK (Jenn will PL 1.1). It's not goodbye to Westmoreland, however; he'll have more to do in Henry IV, Part 2!

Here's few files from me to get started:
https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/1henryiv_blount_1_3.mp3
https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/1henryiv_chamberlain_2_1.mp3
https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/1henryiv_narrator_1_1.mp3
https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/1henryiv_peto_2_2.mp3
I do have a couple questions, though --
1. As narrator -- I don't need to do a "Dramatis Personae" section at the beginning of Act I, right? That's going to be a file of its own?
2. At the end of Act II scene iv, I got flummoxed by English money. Peto has this speech:
Peto. [reads] Item, A capon, 2s. 2d.
Item, Sauce, 4d. Item, Sack, two gallons, 5s. 8d.
Item, Anchovies and sack after supper, 2s. 6d.
515 Item, Bread, ob.
s=shilling d=pence and ob= ha'penny ??? Or would it sound more natural to say "Sack, two gallons, 5 and 8" as I've heard some actors do?

Thanks for the start, Kelly! I will PL the Chamberlain and Peto shortly for you.ktaylor07 wrote: ↑January 26th, 2021, 4:28 pm Here's few files from me to get started:

As to your questions:
1. No, the Dramatis Personae is a separate file. The intro is the same, only instead of an act number you'd simply say "Dramatis Personae of The First Part of King Henry IV, etc." When you finish the disclaimer, begin with "Dramatis Personae," read out your credits only, include "Scene: England," and end with "End of Dramatis Personae."
2. For this, I consulted with Arkangel audio version, and the actor playing Peto read these lines as follows:
Item, A capon, two shillings and twopence (“tuppence”)
Item, Sauce, fourpence
Item, Sack, two gallons, five shillings and eightpence
Item, Anchovies and sack after supper, two shillings and sixpence
Item, Bread, ob.
Surprisingly he literally said the word "ob" rather than "halfpenny" for the bread, so I'm assuming this was an historical abbreviation. Considering Hal mentions the bread is a halfpenny in his next line, it's really up to you to decide what you'd like to do in that instance. The listener will know the cost either way. Maybe "ob" really is more accurate? I personally have no preference here, so I'll leave it to you.

Both the Chamberlain and Peto in 2.2 are PL OK!
Just a word of caution, Kelly: I could detect some distortion in the audio in both files which was probably caused by clipping. Maybe the mic was too close when you delivered the lines, or maybe the microphone gain was on the high side and made the mic more sensitive in picking up audio. Maybe next time try putting the mic a bit further away when you deliver your lines, so there's less chance of distortion. I always find it's better to have quieter-than-normal audio to edit with, because then it can be amplified to the acceptable limit and it will sound cleaner than something too loud that has to be de-amplified. If you use Audacity, under the 'View' menu there is the option to show clipping. If you don't use it already, turn that option on and read a few lines and see if there are any red peaks that show up. If there are, that means the audio in those areas has clipped. Then you can test mic distance and/or decrease the mic gain to see at what point you can deliver the lines with the same excellent force and enthusiasm without any clipping. The adjustments needed are probably minor. That being said: I loved the gusto and accents, and I'm excited to hear more!

3:55 and 4:02- repeat of "Come, you shall have Trent turn'd"
Will you choose which you wish to keep and cut the other?

Before I give my OK I've got 2 quick questions for the group.ktaylor07 wrote: ↑January 26th, 2021, 4:28 pm https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/1henryiv_narrator_1_1.mp3
At 0:57 is "Exeunt". I have never heard it pronounced the way Kelly says it. Can someone double check the pronunciation for me?
At the end she includes "End of scene 1". Is this needed when I edit this scene together?

I listened to it and I think it's OK. It should be something closer sounding to "Egg-see-uhnt," but it's close enough that I think we can keep it.
We don't need to denote the end of scenes, no. When I edit the acts together, I go from the the "exeunt" straight to "Scene #." Announcing the next scene is sufficient to denote that the previous scene has ended.

Perfect! Thanks! Then this can be marked as PL-Ok
(I’ll make a note to myself not to include “End of Scene 1” when I edit)
