The First Part of King Henry IV (version 2) by William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616).

This project is now complete! All audio files can now be found on the catalog page for this project https://librivox.org/first-part-king-henry-iv-version-2-by-william-shakespeare/
After the events of <a href=https://librivox.org/tragedy-of-king-richard-ii-version-2-by-william-shakespeare/><i>Richard II</i></a>, wherein the conceited King Richard II is dethroned and assassinated, Shakespeare’s <i>Henriad</i> continues apace with this multifaceted work that details the reign of Richard’s illegitimate successor, King Henry IV. In this play, the first of two parts, a rift grows between the King and his former allies, the Percys, after Henry raises the ire of the irascible young Hotspur when they butt heads over ransomed prisoners from a recent battle. Collaborating closely with the Welsh and Scots, the Percys carefully plan another rebellious deposition. Meanwhile, Henry’s wayward heir, Prince Hal, is whiling away his time with highwaymen and reprobates in cheap taverns instead of at the court, with his chief companion—and secondary father figure—being the slovenly old braggart Sir John Falstaff (who remains one of Shakespeare’s greatest and most entertaining creations). The antics of Hal and Falstaff strike a lighter contrast to the Percys’ seditious scheming, until both subplots converge at the climactic Battle of Shrewsbury, where Hal’s true character emerges and Henry’s tenuous hold on the throne is put to its ultimate test.<br><br>And to perform it all? Three men (<a href="https://librivox.org/reader/11305">Craig Franklin</a>, <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/10789">Tomas Peter</a>, and <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/9905">Brad “Hamlet” Filippone</a>) and two women (<a href="https://librivox.org/reader/13140">Jenn Broda</a> and <a href="https://librivox.org/reader/13852">Kelly S. Taylor</a>), determined to give you a performance of Shakespeare's work that you will never forget. You thought you knew your Shakespeare? Well, think again! ( Tomas Peter)
    1. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here

Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    3. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/50095
    5. Please claim roles (the numbers in the first column below)! Please note: All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well.

If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

since you want to PL each other, I will not put in a DPL this time.

Moving us straight to Readers Found now....everybody has the link to the project anyway.

Have fun.

Alright gang, I've filled in the MW, and now I leave it to you to claim the four scenes you will be taking care of as editors and proof listeners. As explained, whoever posts first gets first dibs. I shall be back later to finalize your claims.

I'll be really ambitious and claim the very long 2_4.
For my others, I'll take 1_3, 4,1, and 5_1. Picked completely at random.

OK, I gave Brad his preferences. Thank you for taking some of the longer scenes! I hope you won't regret it—though I suspect our performances will be so good that you won't mind it

For everyone else, I found a list of the scenes broken down by line counts and basically tried to give everyone a balance of long and short scenes. It should work out to a manageable slate. You'll find your assignments in the MW; please note what you're responsible for so that, when files start coming in and you'll find roles in your scenes that need PLing, you'll be able to tackle them ASAP.

With that, I think the administrative business has been taken care of. Please feel free to begin recording and submitting roles whenever you're ready to do so!

I have seven more chapters to read in my current Dickens project, so I may just finish it before I start recording for THIS one. But I am looking forward to it.

Being from Wales I can confirm that some Welsh girls can be very naughty as pointed out by the Earl. I think he may be exaggerating it a bit though.
