Katharine von Bora: Dr. Martin Luther's Wife by ARMIN STEIN . Translated by E. A, Endlich

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/katharine-von-bora-dr-martin-luthers-wife-by-armin-stein/
This is a fictionalized biography of the wife of the reformer Dr. Martin Luther. In the author's words, he hopes that "people may learn to know the wife of its greatest man,—not by name only, but as her husband's 'helpmeet,' in the truest sense of the word, as a pattern of domestic virtue, and as a pearl among women."

  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/63985
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): constructive criticism

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Dory,
I received your PM. I am happy to MC your first solo. I’ll get your MW set up in the morning. If you finish recording a section and want to upload it before then go ahead and use my folder. :D

Hooray! I'm glad you said yes and look forward to working with you! Since this is a solo, and not "a group of friends reading around the room," please be more particular in your PL. I'd like this to sound as professional as I can make it. I listen to anything David Clark reads, and although I know he is far above my ability, I aspire to sound as good. Thanks again!

Good morning, Dory.

I have made a few changes to the initial post. We automatically enter ID3 tags now so you don't need to fuss with those. You don't need to include dates of death in the intro so I cleaned up that area. I changed the text link to the overarching page so the listener can chose which file to work from. Also, the file name seemed really long to me so I shorted that. The system automatically enters a file name but you are always welcome to change it. If the first two files are PL OK please don't bother uploading in order to fix the file name. I can fix it when I'm preparing everything for the catalog.

I'm unable to DPL for you. I've added a ~ to the subject in order to advertise. You may want to change your PL type from standard to special and then list out what type of constructive criticism (CC) you are looking for. If you want CC feedback on your non solo files you might consider added it to your signature line.

As a soloist you are also the BC (book coordinator) for the project. You will need to enter the titles, file times and links in the MW and then toggle the status to Ready for PL or Ready for Spot Check.

Here is how you get into the MW the first time. Please let me know if you have any problems.

Wow, that’s a lot of information! I’ll watch the videos and take care of these details. Thanks for the advice.

 Welcome to your first solo.

Don't worry. I'm around if you have questions or run into problems. There is a lot to learn with this new hobby. We have all been there so we understand about the learning curve.

OK, I've looked at the video and logged in--just waiting for my password reset (GMail is sooooo slow!). I don't know how to go back and edit my PL type.

In the upper right hand corner of the first project post you should see a little pencil. Click on that to edit the post.

If you run into trouble just let me know what changes you would like made and I’ll be happy to help out.

I just want to edit my PL to ask for more constructive criticism.

I have tried several times to log in, following your directions. I get to the screen that says an email has been sent, but I never get an email. I checked my profile to ensure that my email address is correct, but I still don't have a password. Do you know whom I should ask?
