The Reformation Collection Volume 1 by Various .

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-reformation-collection-volume-1-by-various/
This volume of the Reformation collection begins with a summary of Protestant belief in the form of the Belgic Confession and John Calvin's 'cover letter' to Francis I of France requesting that he read Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religionto understand the Protestant doctrine from its source rather than secondhand. 100 aphorisms summarising the contents of the Institutes follow as well as some instructions given by Thomas Cranmer showing the effect of the Reformation for clergy and parishes, as does a short protestation from the pre-reformer William Tyndale expressing the Reformation methodology privileging the Bible as the source of doctrine and practice. It continues with several debates where both sides have been recorded: Cardinal Sadoleto's measured letter to Geneva and Calvin's reply, Pope Paul III's letter to emperor Charles V and Calvin's comments, with outrage expressed on both sides, followed by Thomas Cranmer's writings on the relationship between the Papacy and the state. The leads naturally into some writings from the English Reformation where King Henry VIII required the Pope to be "driven out of England" and William Turner, botanist turned theologian, considered the command incompletely executed. There follow writings on the subject of the sacraments, ceremonies and attire which were a key area of dispute in the Reformation period. Afterwards come several expressions of Reformed piety in the form of prayers and a simple catechism for children. (InTheDesert)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): Various
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I will be happy to serve as DPL.

Just an alert: I won't listen to anything from Cromwell. (Haha! I half mean that.) Could he eventually show up in this series?

Fear not Kevin, no Cromwell! I don't think I'll add anything to the list apart from the Belgic Confession which I recorded half of yesterday. It shouldn't balloon!

This is set up.

Regarding file names: you can either use the standard format indicated in the first post, or if these aren't in any particular order (which means at cataloging time, they'll be sorted to file name alphabetical order), you could use a naming scheme such as:

rc01_[shorttitle]_[authorsurname]_128kb.mp3

Have you done a collection before, such that you know how to enter the source and author in each section's metadata?
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew
Medieval England meets Civil War Americans: Centuries Apart
Humor: My Lady Nicotine

Great suggestion for the filenames.

I know how to add the source and author in the metadata - how do I add authors who are not currently in the catalogue?

Those getting their Librivox debut in this collection are:
Thomas Broke (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Broke)
Guy de Brès (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guido_de_Bres)
Jacopo Sadoleto (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacopo_Sadoleto)
Pope Paul III (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Paul_III)
Martin Bucer (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Bucer)

Adding authors is something an admin has to do. I'll get on this today some time. :)

Authors are entered. You might have a hard time pulling up Bres; use the accented E when doing so.

Section 8 PL OK!

The section's title in the MW should be corrected to 'sacraments.'
