Thanks, Adrian! Well done! I think that this scene in act 4 will be especially funny. :) There are some especially humorous lines in there, and you made the most of them all! Just a couple of corrections to make.

Please read full voice credit: "Saladin, betrothed to Gulnare." You can put it in act 4, as act 3 is otherwise PL ok.

Act 4:

1:27-1:34 Missed cut here.

That's it! Thanks again!
Thank you for your kind words. Here is the corrected version:

PL ok now, thanks so much! :D

Here is the new version of the Apothecary Act 8. I have re-recorded the section you requested.

Thank you! Everything is here, and now static-free! :D

Somehow, the order of the lines got a little bit jumbled. :hmm: But everything is nearby, and it will be easy for me to slot it all into the right place when I edit. So, I get to mark it PL ok and move it down with the other completed files! (I don't know if you guys understand how much of a thrill I get out of that. I know, I know. I need to get out more. )

And that gets us all caught up here for now!

Here is my first contribution:

https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/aladdin_secondlordofthetreasury_06_128kb.mp3

The name for the catalogue should be my real name: Michael L. Hooper

Thanks,

Michael

PS. Once you okay this, may i have another role in Aladdin?
Thank you! Well, first things first. Here is your catalogue page, with your name displayed as you've requested: https://librivox.org/reader/15507 You can get to this page by clicking your name in the MW of any project you're signed up for. It will display every project you've read for, both completed and in-progress. (Right now, of course, it's just this one, but that will change as you get involved in more projects.)

Now, for the PL. Although you only have one medium-sized line, I thought you did very well with it! In fact, I hadn't really read this line before, but just skimmed over it. I think it's actually a pretty funny line, now that I get a good look at (and listen to) it!

I am going to ask for a couple of small changes. Nothing too major, but hopefully this will help you on other projects as well.

At the beginning, it's best to leave about 0.5-1 second of silence before you begin speaking, just so that nothing is accidentally cut off. (You don't have to address that here, but keep it in mind for the future.)
When you give your voice credit, there's no need to say "Role of," and in fact, it could even be a bit intrusive. For this, and pretty much all (unless I'm forgetting something) dramatic projects, you should just say "[Character name], read by [Reader name]." All these voice credits are eventually going to be strung together as our cast list, and it would be redundant for everyone to say "role of." Will you redo that credit, please?
0:51 And lastly, this won't apply to every script, but sometimes you have to keep your eyes peeled for "All" lines. There is one here, on page 150. All the workmen: "The Sultan, with his son-in-law!" Add this line on the end, and you're golden!

And yes, of course you may read another role! As long as it isn't in act 6, you can take your pick out of the roles that are still open. Which one(s) would you like?
Okay, I have made all the changes you pointed out (I hope). If it is good, then the next role I would like to try is #26 Man (Owner of the House), Act 7, however I notice that his lines do not seem to be poetic like the "Second Lord of the Treasury". Is this correct or am I interpreting it incorrectly?

Excellent! This is now PL ok, and I'm happy to sign you up for that role in act 7. And yes, you are right that his lines don't seem poetic. This play seems to flow in and out of the poetry quite a bit, sometimes sounding more conversational. And sometimes two or more characters together speak a poem, finishing each other's rhymes. I'm quite excited to hear how it all sounds, once it's together in the right order.

For the Owner of the House (or Man; the script is a bit confusing, because it refers to him in both ways), feel free to just act out his lines as it seems appropriate to you. It's helpful to read a little bit before and after your lines, to know how to best "react," so to speak. But this is your interpretation, so have at it! :D

EDIT: Oh, yes, and please do note you'll also be speaking some of the crowd lines in this act, as noted in the MW. Those are in the scene preceding the one where the Man appears, so you can just include them in the first part of the same file.

Deathwatch, act 7 including "voices" and "multitude."
Duration: 1:41

Sorry for turning this in late. I've been really busy.
Please let me know if I missed anything :)
Thank you! I like the rhythmic intonation you gave to the Deathwatch lines. I think that will sound quite eerie, together with Aladdin's lines and the narrator. :D There is one missing line.

0:58 Missing line for "Multitude." It is on page 186, Starting with "Aladdin's innocent, let him go free! He is our friend..."
Thank you so much.

Excellent, thank you so much! PL ok now. Congrats!

By the way, in the future, whenever you need to upload corrections, you should just use the same file name, instead of adding on a "version2" or anything like that. When you use the same file name, the new file will take the place of the old one, while the old one will be renamed and saved, just in case we ever need it again. :)

Doug42 wrote: December 30th, 2020, 11:27 pm Here are two short parts, ready for checking -
(1) 'headsman' (act 7) - 1 min 7 secs long,
https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/aladin_headsman_07_128kb.mp3

(2) 'laborer' (act 6), at 27 seconds.
https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/aladin_laborer_06_128kb.mp3

(BTW: There may be an extra file in the upload directory - I accidentally named the laborer 'aladin_laborer_07_128kb.mp3' (wrong act!). That file can be deleted)

Happy Listening!

Thanks Doug, this is great, especially the headsman! :9:

Headsman is PL ok, thanks so much! You certainly captured both his disappointment and his thirst for blood!

I'd like a minor correction for the laborer.

0:15 Word change. Text reads (p. 149), "No doubt, they're quite surpassing things." I hear, "No doubt, they're quick surpassing things."
0:26 You also missed the "All" line at the end of the scene. (A common mistake.) P. 150, All the Workmen: "The Sultan, with his son-in-law!"
Thanks for the kind words about headsman -
Here are the changes to 'laborer'. This is a complete re-recording of the part, it was too short to simply 'edit'.
with the added line from 'all' it is now 43 seconds long.

Hi!

Court Jew Act 6
50 seconds long

https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/aladdin_courtjew_6_128kb.mp3

I hope I said all the lines correctly, I also tried to use the noise cleaning thing. I'm not sure if it went well. Let me know and if you have any more tips, I have a big role coming up for another play.
Thank you, Helena

Thank you, Doug! The "All" line is there now, and sounds great, but I still hear the other error.

It is now at 0:18. It should say (p. 149), "No doubt, they're quite surpassing things." But what I hear is, "No doubt, they're quick surpassing things."

Thank you, Donzo! Selim doesn't have much to say here, but he definitely helps to establish what Aladdin is like here at the beginning of the story, and you made the most of it! :D That said, though, I'm afraid that you gave yourself a little bit of extra work that you didn't need to do!

For dramatic readings, the narrator is the only one who needs to speak the introduction and LibriVox disclaimer. So you can cut everything before 0:35.
1:30 You missed one line, p. 12: "You're always lucky."
1:30 Also, the narrator is the only one that needs to speak the ending, so you can also cut "End of Part 1, Act 1."

If it hadn't been for that one missed line, I wouldn't ask for these cuts, but since you will need to add that in anyway, it would be nice to get the unneeded bits out of there as well. :)

The same thing goes for act 10! No need to read the introduction, just your lines. You don't even have to give me another voice credit, as I only need that once!

I passed it into checker as well and it gave me ok.
