Andrew,

First of all let me say that I absolutely adore your characterization of Alaric. Just the right amount of snobishness and feigned self-confidence.

There are, however, a few items that need a little touching up.

2:01 They can't play the fool with me. I heard They can't fool with me.

3:21 Ethel teachin' grubby little children their A. B. C's I heard kids (and I think that in this situation, that 'children' would fit his attitude and class)

4:00 And may I ask why that "Ha"? I heard say why that's

4:24 But now that I have, I heard And now that I have too.

4:48.5 Now I'm goin' to show him I heard: Well, I'm going to show him. (I think that the 'now' shows the idea that he (you) are going to do it now that you have too.)

~7:42 Missed the line “Must ye go?” (really hidden, easy to miss.)

13:00 Until I get really started. “started” was really lost at the end of the word. Couldn't really make out what it was.

13:41 Really, you know! It isn't true. It can't be. Know is kind of cut off, and be is missing.

15:47 we'll be back to lunch. I heard I'll

16:06.5 Oh, I say, adorableadorable” cut off.

Just go over those few things, and all will be well.

Thanks for your hard work.

Wayne

Now here is a question for someone above my pay grade. In the into for the roll, Andrew says "Alaric, her son". Now in the script itself, he is described in two different ways. One as "Alaric, her son", and also as "Alaric, Mrs. Chichester's son". The latter description comes when characters are listed "(In the order of their first appearance)". So I guess the question is, which is the way you want it done? Obviously the only way the first way works is if you list Mrs. Chichester directly before Alaric in the 'credits'.

thanks for the quick PL wayne, hopefully sorted out now. ive re-done each line in in its entirety as i find cutting bits in never sounds right, even then recording with exactly the same set up as b4 i cant seem to make rerecorded lines sound the same as the original. i probably need to spend a few more quid on a more flash microphone!

Andrew,

Your corrections for Act I were great, seamless, except for one thing. In all of them, except the first one, there is a definite high pitched 'hum'. One that is very distracting. You might try a 'noise reduction' on each of them. I think that you may be able to find a stretch long enough to get a reading then apply it only to the 'new' additions.

Now for Acts II and III.

First, there is no hum anywhere in either of these.

Act II has one small correction. 1:46 Let's give the little beggar another month of it. I heard get

Act III

~4:58 Missed the line Good Lord ! Engaged to that tomboy!

5:03 The word Irish is cut off.

~7:35 Missed the line Hello! What have we got there all tucked away?

I don't know if you listen to your recordings with earphones, but you might try that to hear the 'hums'.

Keep up the hard work,

Wayne

Hi there,

Almost four months ago, I offered to do the Stage Directions, then something came up and I had to bail. But as I am almost done with the PLing of this, I was wondering if you would like me to do the Stage Directions? We, of course, would have to find someone to PL my readings, but I am sure that could be done. What say ye?

I have looked at the Directions, and if the answer is yes, I know that there are a few play specific questions I would like you to answer for me.

Yes, that at would be great! I can PL them, so that’s not an issue.

A few notes for reading the directions, feel free to ask any additional questions

At the beginning: Act [#] of Peg O’ My Heart, by J. Hartley Manners. This is a Librivox recording. All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit Librivox dot org.

For the first act please read the cast list as stated on page 12 of the play

As for the 'cast list', there are three in the 'program'. Is this the one you would like me to use?

THE CHARACTERS IN THE COMEDY
Mrs. Chichester
Alaric Her son
Ethel Her daughter
Montgomery Hawkes Solicitor
Christian Brent
Footman (Jarvis)

Maid (Bennett)
" Jerry "
and " Peg"

I know when there is 'business' or such after a character's name before his speech, you say the name. Does that also go for 'stage location', such as this: Alaric. (c.) What's the matter? What's up? also this one: Alaric. (at r. c, by his mother) Ruined?

These are the two that come up right away.

Wayne

P.S. Interesting line in the early part of Act II: Brent gives a muffled ejaculation and tries to take her in his arms.

Edit: I got interrupted in the middle of this, and you responded in that time  . I have done four other of these so I kind of know the basics, and you answered my first question, so thanks. But maybe the second one, it is kind of unusual with only the stage 'placement' but no other instructions. :D
