But I finished tonight! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ltt36i9eKl5E1Jv5Jqzjp4jBNHmeKUKh/view?usp=sharing I made these little drawstring pouches for an advent calendar puzzle! Each pouch contains a little "mini-puzzle," or chunk of the larger puzzle. Do one section per day, and then on Christmas, you have a completed puzzle! :9: I hope to make a few more sets of these over the course of the year to hand out to people next year.
Please forgive the lurking, but this is a great idea!

Here are my contributions. I'll be happy to fix anything needed, including pronunciation mistakes. :)

Edit: BTW, I don't think you mentioned it anywhere, but I used Ecclesiastical pronunciation for the Latin bits, since it seemed more appropriate
Section 1:

Checker is flagging this for a moderate amount of background noise, which is pretty audible on my speakers. It's up to you whether or not to apply some additional noise cleaning, because otherwise, it is PL ok!

Section 8:

0:19 I'm not sure whether this is something that necessarily needs to be addressed or not. But the table of contents says "B. Hrabanus Maurus," and I'm hearing just "Hrabanus Maurus." On the other hand, I don't know what the B. stands for, or if it would be best to just say "bee." Or how much it even matters! Again, all else PL ok!

11 is PL ok! I liked this one a lot. A very simple and beautiful prayer!

Section 33:

Checker flags this one as well, for a high amount of background noise, although I don't notice it as much here, for some reason. :hmm:
4:55 OPTIONAL pronunciation note: "To the Twelve himself he meted." Mete should be pronounced like "meet," so this should rhyme with "completed." https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/mete

Thanks, Devorah! I will check the background noise, I am using new earphones, so, I didn't hear the noise. Thanks for letting me know. I will fix the pronunciation as well.

As to the B., I skipped it, because I was not sure it should be there and, if so, how to read it. It's for Beatus, I believe, because he is a Saint. I wonder why though it didn't say "Saint" in the title? :hmm: Let me know if you prefer me to read Beatus, or Saint, or nothing.

Beatus is the term for those in the third step, so to speak, in the canonization process. Some of the Blessed do not go on to be recognized as Saints.

True, but I found a bit of confusion there. He is considered blessed in the Catholic Saints page (https://catholicsaints.info/blessed-rabanus-maurus/), but apparently he is considered a saint in the 2004 edition of the Martyrologium and by the Jesuists (https://www.loyolapress.com/catholic-resources/saints/saints-stories-for-all-ages/saint-rabanus-maurus/) :hmm: I wonder if he was canonized after the edition of this book of Hymns, so at that point he would be Beatus?

That's likely. Let's go with Beatus, then. Thanks, both of you!

EDIT: I found this, too, from https://religion.wikia.org/wiki/Rabanus_Maurus
On the Roman calendar (Martyrologium Romanum, 2001, pp. 126f.), he is celebrated on 4 February and listed as 'sanctus,' though the online version of the Catholic Encyclopedia of nearly a century earlier lists him as 'beatus.'

Merry Christmas in your part of the world!

Here are my first two selections -

https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/mediaevalhymns_13_neale_128kb.mp3 - 3:05

Lynda
Thanks, Lynda!

Section 12:
What a sobering, even ghastly hymn! "Memento mori," eh?

0:37 Error in the Latin title. (I'm not being too picky on the Latin, especially since I don't know much about it myself, but this one seems different enough to be warranted.) The word is "dies" (dee-ays). I hear "dee."
2:49 Slight word change (p. 34). Should be "Palpitates." I hear "Palpates."

13:
I think I liked this one. Like many of them so far, I might need to read/listen to it a few more times so that I can absorb everything that's there.

0:32 In the word "crux," the x should not be silent.
0:35 You forgot the information about the hymn, found in the MW (which I pulled from the table of contents): "St. Peter Damian. Died 1072."
1:52-2:07 Please move this footnote to the end of the stanza, now at 2:20.

Saying you have time to PL - here is some more to do!

https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/mediaevalhymns_14_neale_128kb.mp3 - 23:14
I'm just doing this extra long one for now. Tomorrow I should be able to marathon my way through the rest!

And wow, what a lot of information is packed into this! Although the footnotes break up the text so much (and there are good arguments for not doing so), I found it extremely interesting and informative! Good job handling this complicated text, too. I only found a couple of small missed words, and I have one change to ask for regarding footnotes. Nice work!

13:04-13:06 You can go ahead and cut the "End footnote. Footnote." here. We can just let the two footnotes run together, even though they are separate in the text. I think it's less jarring that way.
13:07-13:18 And this part is a little weird, but I think it would also be helpful to switch the order of these two footnotes. They both concern the same stanza, but this second one follows more immediately from the main text. So in other words, please cut this part and move it to 12:32.
16:01 Missing word, p. 41. Text reads "Clear as a fair ethereal ray." I hear "Clear as fair ethereal ray."
18:09 Missing word, p. 41. Text reads, "The ardour of whose varied ray." I hear "The ardour whose varied ray."
