davidg42 wrote: December 25th, 2020, 12:30 am Hi - I'm a new reader (just uploaded my test recording), and I'd like to read section 18, TCHAIKOVSKY: FIFTH SYMPHONY.

In the line, "Not wholly in that transient form was trapped," we have a fun controversy about the pronunciation of the word, "transient." I recorded it as trăn′zhənt, and my daughter claims that trăn′zē-ənt is correct. Which is correct?
Glad to have you make your debut with us!
I've added you and assigned this section to you.

I just need to know how you would like to be listed in the LibriVox catalog - real name, pseudonym or any nickname you wish. This is how you will be credited for all of your LV work.

I won't take sides in the pronunciation debate.

There are so many English accents, regional variations and alternatives, our general LibriVox policy is to accept them all. There are exceptions, however. Let's say the name for that English river Thames. Or if the pronunciation is completely mangled. Poetry is another place where there can be exceptions if it affects rhyme or meter.

So, you choose whichever one you think best fits the rhythm of the poem. :)

Hi Larry,

Here goes my first Librivox recording. The length is 1:09 including the silence at the end. I ran the Audacity Noise Reduction effect.

I'm not aware of why one should use real name, forum name, or whatever, on Librivox. So I'll go with forum name.

01:09

Thanks,
David

Hi Larry,
I did include the length, 01:09, in my note. I'll copy the format I see others use.

Welcome!
I've assigned this to you, but please let me know how you would like to be listed in the LV catalog. This can be your real name, a pseudonym, forum name, or any nickname you wish. This is how you will be credited for all of your LibriVox work.

Our DPL has been absent for several weeks, but I wanted to give you some feedback on your first recording,
I'm glad to report it as PL OK! All the specs are on target and the reading is just fine.

We'll set up your catalogue name, and you can click on your name in the MW to view your personal page.
This is where you can track all of your LV projects, of which I hope there will be many.

CONGRATULATIONS and WELCOME TO LIBRIVOX
