My, Tricia, that was quick. I'm off to the shed straight away...

Here's section 5:
https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/elia_05_lamb_128kb.mp3 17:50
I'm still working on the sound quality. I'm recording closer to the mic, but applying a bass cut and treble lift to counteract the closeness.
Have I overdone the bass cut? Without it, it sounds "boomy" to me.

Wow... this is some tweed-encrusted prose. Fortunately I have relatives who still speak this way, so might be able to do it justice :)

I'd like to do 34 "Ellistoniana" if that's permissible.

I listen on my laptop speakers or on cheap ear buds, so I probably won't be able to comment intelligently on how boomy it is. :?

Section 5:

3:53 - missed edit: "than that.." click click "than that I should"

4:40 - missed edit (no click): "a notorious" [pause] "addicted to" - repeated as - "a notorious (deleted) addicted to (deleted)"

12:20 - missed edit: "give the six score thousands" click click "give thee to six"

I relate to many of the sentiments in this section. :) Hmm, going from 1820 to 1821 - exactly 200 years ago in a couple days!

Do be a bit careful with treble boost. Some of the sounds (especially towards the beginning) sounded a little sharp to me. I prefer it to err on the side of boom rather than the side of sharp. ;)

Good. My attempts at accents are atrocious.

Thank you, Tricia. Here are the corrections: https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/elia_05_lamb_128kb.mp3 now 17:41
At 4:40, I didn't quite know how to represent the asterisks representing deletion. As you didn't comment on my use of "deleted",
that's what I'll do next time too :0)
I removed the treble boost and left the bass cut. I suspect my older ears are not as sensitive to high frequencies as yours,
I also suspect my (self-proclaimed gaming) headphones artificially boost the bass to make them sound, er, bassier.

Hi, I'd like to read Section 36: The Old Margate Hoy, please?

This will be my first reading for LibriVox.
  • I'd like my name in the catalogue to be 'Rohan Tharyan'

Thanks!

Wow - lots of action in the past 12 hours! :)

Sections entered. I should be able to PL today.

Rohan: welcome! Here's your catalog page: https://librivox.org/reader/15510
You can keep track of your assigned sections there. (Click on Reader section details to see each section.)

To get to this link yourself, use your name in any Magic Window in which you have an assigned section. Open your name link in a new tab/window (if you click on it directly, it opens right in the Magic Window). ;)

Section 5 spot PL OK. Yes, I was perfectly happy with how you dealt with the omissions. :)

Section 6 PL OK. My husband would agree with many of Mrs. Battle's opinions about games of pure luck. I've heard him express that view dozens of times!
