Oh there are lots and lots to choose from All of our recordings must be from published, public domain texts in the USA.
We use a lot of those on Gutenberg http://www.gutenberg.org/ since they chech the status of most of them. Ask if anything is confusing.

as far as I understand, in such cases, we are most often talking about the right of the publisher or author to the work. philchenevert told you about this right in this topic, about which you better clarify with him directly in the PM (personal message), I think.
