Thank you for chapter 18, which was read beautifully. We only have one issue, and that is with the volume which is at 83.1 Volume needs to be somewhere between 86-92, although a mid range, about 90, would be ideal. You can check your volume and other settings for each recording by using the Volume Checker (link: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Checker) before submitting your file.

Adjustments to volume can be made in a number of ways: Using the Audacity program, you can highlight the passage (or entire text) you want to amplify, click on Effects (at the top) and choose Amplify. Experiment with that a bit and you'll find the right volume. You could try it with a sample text first. The second option to adjusting volume is also within Audacity, but on the left side. You'll see a mute button with a sliding scale below it. Highlight your text and click on that box. Again, you can check your volume with the Checker until you get it where you want it to be. Alternately, you can use that sliding scale to increase the volume, and that is my preferred method.
Here is the corrected recording.

Thank you for explaining how to adjust the volume so easily! This was a hard chapter to read, and I wouldn't want to have to do it again :-)

I will take on the orphaned chapter 19! Let me just consult my books on how to read olde English and French pronunciation now. ha!

Is it acceptable to translate the old english (if that's what it is) paragraph to a more understandable, standard English version and read it that way?
Ex: read " the assege lastyth stylle by the Duke off Burgoyn affoor Nuse" as "the seige lasts still by the Duke of Burgundy before Neuss"?

It is not acceptable to translate. However, it is acceptable to use modern pronunciation (it’s all semantics   )

Chapter 17 notes:

You give the chapter great articulation and pacing. Just a couple of tiny things that need to be addressed:

Please reduce the opening silence to between .5 - 1.0 second. I think you have over 2 seconds there.
At :56 "the emperor argued before his guest.." should be "the emperor argued with his guest..."
3:57 "..steed was heavily weighted down with its rich comparisons..." should be "...with its rich caparisons...."

I have completed recording and editing the final, orphaned chapter of this work. It was a doozy! Please let me know if it is acceptable or if you want me to redo anything. Thanks!

Thank you. It is very rare for us to ask for a re-record. Most files can be tweaked to pass our standards 8-)

Your reading of chapter 19 was super! Loved the old English - and I shudder to think how long it took to work that out

I won't ask you to edit this file, but in future, please make sure we have the full 5 seconds at the end. I think in this case we only had 4.

Chapter 21/22 is finished! It is one, large recording. I read it according to the HTML file, which had no separation for chapter 22, or a designation for it. So, I read the whole things as one chapter and called it "Chapter 21"

Thanks so much! A very fascinating read!
