Kay Kavous has been redone (now at 13:43)
https://librivox.org/uploads/linny/mlaw004_kaykavous_ferdowsi_sc_128kb.mp3
In retrospect it's honestly embarassing I thought I could complete the other story in a week but it's finally done, the behemoth comes in at a length of 38:24
https://librivox.org/uploads/linny/mlaw004_sevenlaboursofrostam_ferdowsi_sc_128kb.mp3
In the interest of disclosure I want to note that this has undergone some processing in the form of the change tempo tool, I do still have a version of this pre-processing if this is a problem

Hey, thanks for all your work! I'll load these into the MW and queue them for PL.SomethingClever wrote: ↑December 22nd, 2020, 12:27 pm Kay Kavous has been redone (now at 13:43)

Using the change tempo effect is absolutely fine! I use it fairly often, myself, as well as Amplify (usually with a negative number for mine), and on occasion I'll do a little Change Pitch work. I always use the Noise Reduction. You just have to keep in mind that too much editing, particularly with the Noise Reduction, will distort your recording so that it sounds like some crazy space monkeys game is turned on over your reading. I don't anticipate any problems with your recording, but I'll let you know if something needs reworking. Good idea to hold onto the pre-processed file - I usually do that until I get a PL OK note.

Hey, Linny, I think we need an author added. This one'll put you through your paces, too!
I can't find Firdusi in the metadata author list. I've looked for the different spellings, as well as the generally-accepted family name for him. I'll list them here for you:
Firdusi
Firdausi
Ferdowsi
Abul Kasim Mansur
Abul-Qâsem Ferdowsi Tusi
and here's his Wikipedia page: Ferdowsi
I have no idea what his author-list name should be. It looks like he is spoken of primarily as, simply, Ferdowsi. But if we have a Persian "specialist" in our ranks, it might be good to ask them.

Kay Kavous is PL OK
Rostam Notes: Your recording is fantastic, and I don't hear over-processing problems. It does need the same volume boost that you did for Kay Kavous, as it comes in a little under 86dB.
I love how the translation of the work is able to maintain much of the rhyming in the stanza portions.
So, hey, you're doing excellently, and are quite ready to pursue a solo project if you want to do that. Or you can just keep doing single sections in group projects.

Hi there And Merry Christmas to you!
I buried this note the other day before a string of work on a section, and it probably got hidden from you. So I'm using a quoted post to mark it with notification:

Hello Lynette,
I did indeed miss this. I'm sorry for that.
Honestly, this decision is beyond me. I'm going to need some more MC input. I'll get back to you as soon as I get an answer.
Merry Christmas!
EDIT: You may now find the author (Abul-Qâsem Ferdowsi Tusi) using full name or Firdusi or Firdausi.
It's the first author I've added to the database so if he's not there let me know and I'll try again.

The reservation time ran out on Section 12, so I've opened that up for the first in-coming recording. From this point forward, I will not reserve sections in these Myths and Legends collections, so that we don't get another weird backup that results in a later-numbered collection going Live before prior collections.
I've let Domarisdione know that her story will be absolutely welcome in the open section of whichever collection is running at that time.

I concur. Most of the collections run this way. You are welcome to add a reading when it is ready but there is no ‘reserving’ a spot.LCaulkins wrote: ↑December 26th, 2020, 6:16 pm The reservation time ran out on Section 12, so I've opened that up for the first in-coming recording. May I claim section 12? I have a story or two I'd like to read from here, https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=uc1.32106000769411&view=2up&seq=20 - myths from the australian aborigines.
please let me know, happy holidays!

Oh - just read the post above - I will see if I can read this soon, but was counting on reserving it for two weeks, to have a little more time.
Thanks!

Hi Linda!
We will love to have you submit a recording. Don't worry, if this last slot in Collection 4 is filled by then, Collection 6 will be open for your recording. I always have one of these running.
