Help finding a ghost/horror story

Someone on the LibriVox facebook page is looking for a specific short story. Can anyone help?

A long shot, but can anybody that has downloaded the ghost and horror story collections recall what the story is with a frontiersman falling down into a deep canyon, where he is surrounded with other animals that have also fallen in and is stuck there for several days?

Probably "A Dreadful Night" by Sir Edwin Arnold, in Horror Story Collection 1: https://librivox.org/horror_story_collection_001/

I vaguely remembered it, but had to search through the collections for likely looking titles.
