    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/62020
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

What fun. Can I be early and ask for Chapter VI, Lightfoot Butts a Boy? Or, will I get my hand smacked for my forwardness?

Thanks,

I'll gladly DPL this book - maybe we'll have a few returning Shaggo the Mighty Buffalo readers as well.

Hi Larry,

I'm always glad to see one of the ebooks I've produced with Distributed Proofreaders become an audio selection at LibriVox. Thanks for running this project.

I was surprised to see the above comment in first post. Could you clarify what you mean by this? I'd like to ensure that there are no mistakes in the ebook itself, that need correction. So far as I remember, all the illustration captions are also text in the content, so I'm a little confused.

Thank you,
Don (DACSoft)

Ok, your MW is all set.

And not to butt in (pun intended  ), but it does look like the picture captions are actually part of the text. I noted a few places where it wouldn't make sense to skip that sentence. The confusing part is the fact that they are hyperlinked, I think. :hmm:

Ah, that may be. In my ebook projects, I hyperlink the passage in the text to the corresponding illustration, with a cross-link back from the illustration's caption to its location in the text, for the convenience of the reader to look at the illustration when they get to that part in the book (and vice versa). :)

Thank you,
Ok, I stand corrected!

I had never seen this format before, where the picture captions were taken from the text, and in at least one instance being just part of a sentence. And when they appeared in highlighted text, they looked like misplaced captions. On first reading, it didn't seem to make much sense, but on closer look I see that they are just part of the text. So, I have removed that part of the instructions.

Thank you so much for the alert and keeping me from such a blunder. :)

I just looked at this and noticed that you put me down for a different section than the one I requested. I would like to do Chapter 6. I don't mind doing the other one as well (chapter 10) as I do enjoy these books, but I had wanted to give other people a chance to read a chapter.

thanks,
