I have been re-reading, after several decades, a book by Bertrand Russell which was published around 1930. A thing that hits me right between the eyes this time (as it did listening to this section) is the old-fashioned quaintness of the natural assumption that the world is to be governed by men (Carlyle's "heroes").
Best,
Barbara
Thanks, Barbara!
I had the exact same reaction to this section and it was on the tip of my tongue to say it!!
