Henry, Jess, Violet, and Benny just lost their father and are all alone. To avoid being sent to the grandfather they fear, they have no choice but to run away. After a midnight journey and a wild storm, the children find a new home in an old, abandoned boxcar in the woods. When Henry's job makes them new friends, they don't realize how important this will be for the future of their little family.

Note: This original edition was published in 1924 and is longer and more in-depth than the version that later became the first book in a beloved series of children's books. It also contains richer English and more old-fashioned references to enjoy than the later edition.

I'm not trying to compete with the version two solo that is underway. But when I have searched the catalog for "The Boxcar Children" a couple years ago and again recently, I did not find any matches. So today when I was in the middle of setting up this project (after recording a few chapters as a test run), what should I find but the author already in your system... and the book title spelled differently than in my searches. Oops!

I'll go ahead and start version three anyway since I wanted to do it for more practice of children's narration. And I always enjoy having several versions to choose from in the catalog - maybe even to listen to more than one over time!

Okay, Jenn, chapters 2-5 are ready for you! I also recorded and edited chapter 1, but it sounds like I hadn't hit my stride yet. So I would like to hopefully redo that in my next recording session.

I'm trying to improve my children's book narration, so if you have any CC for me regarding style, characterizations, tone, pace... let me know.

Thanks for the feedback. I was most concerned that I might overdo Benny's voice, so that's a relief! If you hear me getting too inconsistent with the voices over time (since I can only find a recording session every week or two (or three!), please let me know. And any other CC you may have will be appreciated.
