I am sorry if I am not writing at the right spot and if I disturb your project, I am new here so I am learning. Please let me know if I should post elsewhere, maybe in the Help section of the forum?
I am a French speaker who does not read or understand Russian but as it happens I really wanted to read in French (in another French-speaking project) one of the tales that appears in Afanasyev's book (#441 Жена-доказчица, that talks about the old man who tricks his wife with pike, hare and the pot of gold) because it is a story my dad used to tell me very often when I was a kid and I love it.
I wanted to know if you could help me find a version of this tale that would be in the public domain in French?
Please let me explain, of course I am not asking you to browse French sources but I think there is no French translation of Afanasyev's book that is in the public domain (the only I could find is very recent) so I am looking for other versions of this tale, that would not be Afanasyev's, with different titles etc (I found Глупая старуха etc). I already lost myself on Russian websites for a few hours but it is very difficult as I do not read Russian.
So I was wondering if you could help me find these slightly different versions of the tale, and with an author/book reference in Russian I will check if it has been translated into French.
Last note: I am very annoying because I found one in the "Contes Populaires Slaves, 1882" collection by Louis Léger (https://fr.wikisource.org/wiki/Recueil_de_contes_populaires_slaves_(traduction_L%C3%A9ger)/XX) but his version does not sound good in French in my opinion, it lacks the charm of the other versions I read (that are too recent for Librivox). But it is the only one I will use it.

Pas du tout ! Je serais râvi si je peux vous aider avec votre recherche. Je ne connais pas d'autres versions du conte Жена-доказчица, mais on peut trouver plusieures autres traductions françaises des contes populaires russes (pas forcement de la collection d'Afanasiev) sur le site HathiTrust.org. Je viens d'effectuer une recherche de catalogue, option Full view only, et je vois les livres suivants, publiés avant 1925 (ce qui guarantit que le texte est dans le domaine publique selon les règles de LibriVox):

Contes russes, traduits d'après le texte original et illustrés par Léon Sichler.
