A Day at a Time and Other Talks by Archibald Alexander (1874-1942).

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/a-day-at-a-time-by-archibald-alexander/

[To be written later - book of short reflections on scripture written during WWI] ( )
  1. Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/39309
    .
  2. Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard
    .
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

  3. The reader will record the following at the beginning and end of each file:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!

"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • Say:
"A Day at a Time and Other Talks, by Archibald Alexander. [Chapter]"

    .
For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
    • "Chapter [number] of A Day at a Time by Archibald Alexander. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • Only if applicable, say:
      "[Chapter title]"
    .
    END of recording:
    • At the end of the section, say:
      "End of [Chapter]"
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
      .
    • At the end of the book, say (in addition):
"End of A Day at a Time and Other Talks, by Archibald Alexander. "

There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.
    .
  4. Example filename dayatatime_##_alexander_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number

In case it's helpful, this was written by a different Archibald Alexander to the one in the catalogue.
Female Scripture Characters by William Jay (1769 - 1853) 97% 1 left! "The Penitent Sinner Part 2"
St. Augustine (Vol.6 Psalms 126-150) 94% 3 left!
PL pls: DPL 43 27-28

LOL, thank you! I thought with a name like that, there could only be one!

I can't find anything on 1942 Archie, so I'll just add him to the database with his b/d dates.

Yes Kevin, that would be great.

I've just uploaded a new version of the 3 that are done ... I'm changing the intro/outro from "Chapter" to "Section".

LOL! Yes, but the alternate reading made for a very interesting devotion.

Will be a couple of weeks before I record the rest, I'm away from my mic.

Sections 11 through 15 all very fine except that the "End of Section [number]" is missing for all five. (I very nearly overlooked this. The prayers themselves seemed like an appropriate close.)
