not napping at all, Todd, this was a cool performance. 8-) The doctor is very jovial and even kinda flirting with the nuns. Wonderfully portrayed, I liked him very much. I suspect even the stern vicaress had a soft spot for him, but she would never admit to such a weakness.

Absolutely PL ok. A very likable character. Thanks

I am glad you enjoyed that. I had a very clear notion of what that role was supposed to be and could picture myself and all the others in the scene quite clearly. Sierra is very good at creating characters.

Fortunately I have found a book with 3 more plays of his translated into English.

1915 The Kingdom of God
1915 The Two Shepherds
1914 Wife to a Famous Man (sadly missing from the scan.)
1918 The Romantic Young Lady

it seems the pages are messed up. A big part of the play is in there, starting mid-Act 1: https://archive.org/details/playsgmartnezsi00siergoog/page/n196/mode/2up
Act 2 is complete. I don't know how much is missing from Act 1, but checking the page numbers, not more than 20 pages are missing. I already contacted the university who uploaded the scan, maybe they can help :) I let you know if I hear back from them.

so yes, I got a quick reply, but unfortunately, the university didn't personally scan these books, it was a general mass-scan by google and therefore maybe that accounts for the errors. :? So I guess it's not so easy to get the copies. I wouldn't know who to contact at google. Let's do the other plays first and then we have time to decide what to do.

thank you Larry, that was quite a lot of stage directions. Wonderfully narrated again, emphasizing with the right emotions at any given moment.

I have a few corrections to add though:

PL notes for Act 1:

> from 0:22-1:25: for some reason you have the introduction to Racine's Britannicus in here. :hmm: This can all be cut out
Question for Todd: do you want the long introduction note read as well ? So far Larry hasn't included it. (update: no introduction note required)

> from 1:30 -2:36: for all the characters, could you please say the full description as you see in the book, and also in the MW. ("aged 18" and such). If for some reason the reader disappears without recording this, Todd can grab insert the narrator's lines there

> from 2:39-2:43: "also a lay sister, two monitors and several other nuns as desired" – can also get cut out, we don't need to mention roles that are not speaking roles

PL notes for Act 2:

> at 0:01: "Interlude, spoken by the poet" – the LV intro disclaimer should be at the beginning of each section, so the interlude needs to be copied at 0:27. Then to show that the interlude is over, I would also add here "Act 2" before launching into the description of the scene with "Parlour of a convent."

> at 7:25: (p. 48) "Teresa, sincerely" – name needs to be included, as this voice description should come at the beginning of the speech

> at 9:10: (p. 55) "Sister Joanna of the Cross, interrupting" – same here

> at 9:52: (p. 57) "Sister Joanna of the Cross, seizing her hand" – same here

thanks

No, I do not want the long introduction note.

Having just read some of the Psalms for Tricia's project, I feel I should find a home here.
Could I play the Prioress?

Thanks,
Adrian

Prioress act 1:
https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/cradlesong_prioress_1_128kb.mp3 16:19

I included two versions of the line at 24.8 "why are you all standing in a row like statutes".
The first is at 7:34-7:40
The second version at 7:43-7:50 ends "... statues".

The first version doesn't make sense to me, but it's what the doctor ordered.
If you want me to delete the second version and resubmit, I will be happy to do so.

I was unsure how to read the intro, so I recorded both "Prioress, read by" and "Prioress aged 40, read by".
Again, if you want me to resubmit with one missing, please say so.

If the latter form is to be used, I would like some guidance as to whether in Act 2 it should be "Prioress aged 58, read by" because the notes
indicate the passage of 18 years, and my calculus teacher told me that 40+18 was (approximately) 58. But then he also told
me that, "for practical purposes, we take infinity to be 3", so I'm not sure whether to believe him.

Best,
Adrian

Thank you.

Don't need a second voice credit for act 2 - the Cast List is only given in Act 1.

sorry for the delay in feedback, but I have been swamped with PL jobs over the weekend. :? But I just had a listen to your excellent prioress delivery here just now and it is very well played out. I hope it wasn't too hard for your to keep up this falsetto voice ;) Luckily you played a rather soft-spoken character, so that helps with the delivery. And wow she talks a lot.

I found two missing sentences, so here are my notes:

> for the voice credit, yes we always use the entire description as in the MW, so you can cut the shorter version out

> at 7:35: (p. 24) "standing in a row like statues" – I agree, it's probably a typo, as "statutes" doesn't make any sense. I guess that version can be cut as well

> at about 8:28: (p. 26) missed line: "For the Mother Prioress." (she reads the first line of the letter here)

> at about 12:28: (p. 30) missed line: "That is true."

thank you Adrian, now looking forward to your older version of the prioress.
