Spring Morning by Frances Cornford (1886 - 1960).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/spring-morning-by-frances-cornford/

Frances Cornford, the granddaughter of Charles Darwin, wrote several volumes of poetry. In this volume is one of her best known poems, the sad and comic "To a Fat Lady Seen From a Train". ( AnnaLisa Bodtker)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/60396
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Well read! I think you have the perfect voice for this collection of poems.

I have one item in section 8 for your consideration:
01:57 I heard "none" and expected "nought".
I know the PL level is standard and not word perfect, and I think "none" scans as well as "nought", so please feel free to ignore this picky observation. I bring it up only because with poetry some people like to get it exactly right and I don't know yet if you are in that camp. :)

Why Frances is remembered for Fat Lady Seen from the Train and not for The Old Witch in the Copse is beyond me!

It is always such a pleasure to work with you Ann, and I hope to work with you Tom again soon!
Many Thanks for all that you do!
AnnaLisa

Fat Lady is probably remembered for its title. I found several other poems more evocative.
I'm glad I had the chance to listen to your reading of these poems. Thank you.
