Those are the final two chapters of the book. They rather depart from "history" into outmoded psychology and aspirational politics, IMHO. But I suppose we must include them, so I read them as written. Overall, a "fun read."

I'll finish during the weekend. So far it has been a very interesting project and I'm curious what the final chapters hold.

Absolutely! I spent four month on the Pacific Crest Trail last year and love the Californian trails
