A Class-Book of Old Testament History by George Frederick Maclear (1833 - 1902).

This is classic book by scholar, educator, theologian and preacher George Frederick Maclear, headmaster of King's College School, London, and later warden of St. Augustine's Missionary College, Canterbury. Each short chapter is a nugget of events and persons of the Old Testament, giving a very accessible overview of history from the Earliest Times to those of Ezra and Nehemiah. ( Larry Wilson)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/63528
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Boy, this project looks great. Very interesting.

I'm not sure I'm ready to read all the book, chapter, verse references that seem to be in every paragraph. Are you/we wedded to having them all?

Yes, I think so, Kevin. Most paragraphs have one at the end, some none, and a few multiples, of course. I think they are integral to the work. It is not that the listener is likely to stop to look up the references, but it keeps the work grounded and gives the biblical flow which I think is important. The biggest challenge for me is the use of Roman numerals which make my head ache sometimes.

It is a large project and will not be completed quickly, I suspect, but I think it is worthwhile. It is a bit heavier than the Yonge's Bible stories that we're finishing up.

I'm trying to decide if I need to do word counts for all 77 sections. :hmm:

Stay tuned.

Hi, Larry

I seem to be one always entangled in long projects  So I will set this up for you. Be right back.

Edit: your window is up. :)

Well, thanks, Leni.
I'll do my best to keep this running smoothly, but it will take awhile to complete, I'm sure.

The MW is populated.
I may add word counts in a bit. But, most sections are about the same length and shouldn't be more than 10-15 min of reading.

For now, we are ready for readers.

A DPL would be most welcome.

Section 2, please. (I'll be recording this with a pitchfork in hand. I'm not too fond of snakes. Most importantly, I can pronounce all the names in this section.)

A friend told me I should do more of these. (I guess she knows this work.)

May I have Section 3, please?
