By the way, we don't have a dedicated proof-listener just yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Preethy's excellent reading of Section 5, Chapter 3, part 1, Sacrifice.
First of all, enjoyed listening to well-read material in a nice speaking voice.
3 minor issues with CONTENT:
17:07 - (bottom of 1st paragraph p. 67): Nervousness, in the broad general sense of that word, is at bottom very often a manifestation of selfishness, that is, oversolicitude about oneself and one's affairs, ....
* I hear “over-solitude” *
18:29 - (1st paragraph p. 68) emphasized in his essay on the "Moral Equivalent of War.”
* I hear “equalent” *
20:26 - (last paragraph p. 68) He adds that "the martial type of character can be bred without war”,
* I hear “marital” *
2 TECHNICAL issues:
need full 0.5 to 1 second silence at both beginning and end of recording
volume: Checker gives the volume at 76.4 db; - YuquingJune, please verify, but I think the minimum acceptable volume level is 87? So need to Amplify the recording throughout.
Also, at around 17:20 it sounds as if Preethy moved back and forth from the microphone a couple of times.
All in all, great reading of the material!

Thank you.. but could you please open Chapter 3 part 1 for others.. as working on the project is not possible for me now.. in future I will keep the things in mind and claim a new chapter.. thanks for the suggestions and support so far..YuqingJune wrote: ↑October 7th, 2020, 5:50 pmThanks Deborah! Technically her current volume is borderline fine, since Checker gives a "passed with warnings". But certainly it'll be nice if the volume can be increased to the optimal range!
Preethy, just in case you haven't checked this LibriVox wiki page, you can find everything you'll want to know about the app Checker here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker
It'll be good if you can do one round of volume adjustment using this tool before uploading in future. In fact, why not start this time?
Thank you!

Section 15, Chapter 10 Part 1 PURITY
by FriedToaster, who has a Very clear speaking voice, pleasant to hear.
Have a bit of concern regarding background noise, just FYI
On Audacity the "silent" sections look scratchy: that's noise. Possibly try Noise Reduction?
Technical issues:
1) Opening silence - has a lot of noise. Best if this is replaced with silence.
2) Add 5 seconds of silence at end of recording.
Textual:
At 1:40 mark
Page 184, 1st sentence of 2nd paragraph
"In spite of the fact that there was a conspiracy of silence.."
I hear: "were a conspiracy"
5:51
page 187, quoted material near end of page
"more lives than the whole empire of Great Britain lost during any year of the Great War"
I hear "during any WAR of the Great War"
8:54
page 188, last paragraph
We know now that the great majority of all the blind children in our blind asylums owe their blindness to one of these venereal affections
"asylums" ah-sigh-lums // I hear "i-lums"
12;11
page 190, last paragraph
He said: "The cleanest boy and girl cannot give theoretical attention to the thoughts concerning sexuality without the whole mechanism for reinforcement automatically entering into action."
I hear "inforcement"
15:16
192, midway through first paragraph
If this is true for older people, how much more so for the young, who have not yet been disillusioned on sex subjects and whose inhibitions are likely to be so much weaker.
I hear "inhabitations"
18:04
page 194, 1st paragraph
and it is no injustice to a secularistic morality to say that purity received from the lips of Jesus Christ a dignity,
I hear "impurity"
20:17
page 195, about midway through 1st p
we may inculcate teetotalism and banish enervating habits and too stimulating foods.
"inculcate" "enervating"
One pronunciation suggestion.
NOT a huge, hairy deal, but for ease of comprehension for some listeners:
20:32
page 195, first paragraph, concluding sentences.
Several times this word appears: expediency
ex-speed-E-en-cee
Excellent work, Toasty!
