Hi Sonia
I listened to sections 26 and 110.
Section 26 seems PL OK to me.
In section 110 I think you say "photograph page 158" rather than 558. Otherwise OK.
Hope I am not usurping Jim's job

thank you, Alan, and you're right I said the wrong number. It's corrected now, if you would also like to Spot PL I only re-recorded these three words.alanmapstone wrote: ↑October 17th, 2020, 12:28 pm I listened to sections 26 and 110.

I am sure Jim was happy to get some help, especially seeing he was busy partying at his son's.Hope I am not usurping Jim's job
The only problem I could ever see arising is that if someone PLs a section without notification beforehand, there is the risk someone else may do the same work twice at the same time. I would want to avoid double efforts wherever possible. Otherwise everybody is of course welcome to help out where they can and want. So thanks !

ok sorry for the very late feedback, but I wanted to get some of my own sections recorded yesterday, so I forced myself not to PL too much But now I listened to the very interested section. I had this "gone with the wind" feeling while hearing about these frolicks Entertainingly narrated, Adrian, thank you so much.adrianstephens wrote: ↑October 16th, 2020, 11:01 am Section 13: https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/worldstory_volume13_013_tappan_128kb.mp3 12:07
I have a few small PL notes though:
> at 0:36: (p. 39) "the British spent the winter of 1777-78 in Philadelphia" - you say "summer"
> at 0:58: (p. 39) after "in our country" you forgot to insert the footnote, which is historically interesting here to explain why they called America "our" country. Please add the following: "Footnote: This was written in 1843 - End of Footnote"
> at 4:40: (p. 41) missed part of sentence (underlined): "on whose tunic was represented a mountain sending forth flames, and the motto"
> at 5:25: (p. 41) "in the fourth they fought with their swords" - I think I hear "they brought forth with", which sounds a bit odd
thanks
Sonia

For 83 I have one further small note:
> from 0:17-0:20: between "painting p. 390" and "during the civil war" – also here over 3 seconds feels too long as a break, could you cut it down to 1.5 maximum please ? Strangely enough the pause was not that long in your previous version
wow what an exciting naval battle this was. I was riveted by the narrative well read, Meg thanksAnd while I have you, here's my first draft of Section 98, with the longform intro. Please let me know if I need to go back and make any edits to that one.
Section 98 https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/worldstory_volume13_098_tappan_128kb.mp3 10:32
However, also here I would suggest a few cuts of silences. Especially since the battle is so adventurous, the long pauses feel like tearing one out of the ongoing events. I would at least shorten them those which are over 2 seconds long.
thanks
Sonia
Thanks again for the feedback! I cut out those bits you asked for. Everything else should be as it was! Hopefully these are PL OK
