Saved and Kept or How to Get Saved and How to Keep Saved by G. A. McLaughlin (1851 - 1933).

This little volume is by no means intended to be a theological work. Nor does it attempt to show the details of the Christian life. The author seeks to point out the principal means by which sincere souls may be saved and keep saved. It is intended to be a simple, direct exposition of the way of salvation, put in every-day language, with the earnest desire that ‘‘he that runneth may read,"’ and that the reader may be helped in reaching the goal, and in finding an abundant entrance into the City of God.
With this single aim we launch this little book, praying that it may be helpful to some soul who seeks to know what God has for him. ( G. A. McLaughlin)
• This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/saved-and-kept-or-how-to-get-saved-and-how-to-keep-saved-by-g-a-mclaughlin/
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/savedkeptorhowto00mcla
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi David,
I'll MC this for you. You did a great job with the template. This short book is a good choice for you first solo.
The magic window is up. I pm'd you the information on using it and accessing it.
Now you just need a proof listener. I'll leave you on the launchpad while you get your magic window ready.
Cheers,
Amy

It doesn't say anywhere that I have to put ID3 tags on the files. Do I have to? If so, what should it include?

Thanks

I don't know if this is a problem but...

The section numbers are off from the chapter numbers because of a preface. Preface would be section 01 and Chapter 1 would be section 02. Can this be remedied? Is this ok?

Hi David,
The tags will be filled in automatically during cataloging. I updated the sections so that the Preface is section 0.
Now all you need is a prooflistener. I'll put an advertisement in the Listeners Wanted forum.
I am going to move this to Going Solo.
Thanks,
Amy

Amy,

Thank you! Do I need to change the filenames to reflect the updated section numbers? Also, silverquill or Larry said he would be the DPL for this project. Is that a dedicated proof listener? Thank you for all your help!

Just in case you overlooked this.

I'm away for a few days, but will listen as soon as I can, if my offer is accepted.

I can help with proof listening! I am new here but I've done a One Minute Test and have started recording recently myself.

Hi Terri,
This project has a proof listener now.
Thanks for your interest.

Well, I wasn't expecting to get these all at once, but I thought I'd listen to at least a couple. I've been away a few days.

Tech specifications are all good.

General comment. I find the excessive reverb a bit difficult to listen to.

More difficult is the repetition of the long disclaimer at each chapter and the the repetition of the plug for both your podcast and website TWICE in each chapter. I suppose this is your option but in all of the solos I've listened to, I've never heard this done, and really, for the listeners you hope to reach, will be quite annoying. That's my personal opinion, of course, but I would suggest that you might find following the usual solo intro and ending for each chapter more conducive to productive listening.

That would be just
"Chapter [number] of Saved and Kept or How to Get Saved and How to Keep Saved by G. A. McLaughlin. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
And, maybe "Recording by ......" IF you really feel you need to advertise your podcast and web site for EVERY chapter, though I think even this is excessive, I would at list skip it at the end and just say, "End of Chapter [number]

Your solo, of course, but these are my suggestions from my experience.

I'll listen to the rest as soon as I can.

Well, I don't see any response from you on any of the issues.
I think we need to get this straightened out.

The first thing is that now that we've added a section 00 for the preface, the file numbers are out of synch.

Amy, can you clarify on what needs to be done?
Can they just be renumbered, or do they need to be renamed and uploaded again?

Also, we need clarification about the intros and outros.
As I said, it is your solo, so if you want to keep it "as is," that's fine , I guess.
And, my opinion is just that, one opinion.

I did listen to one more chapter - Chapter 2 (not section 2) and there are a couple of corrections to make.

3;39 Missed edit – “thousands attempt . . . “
5:57 Repeat “some are, some are”

Wait before uploading a corrected file until we have the naming issue sorted out.

Hi Larry,
The file numbers can be updated easily during the cataloging process. There is no need to update them now.
Thanks,
-Amy
