Thank you. I think.

I see you are in your sleezy-slimy element again here, Chris. Indeed, I have the impression, a certain Mr Lebanon has changed his business-line here. Extortion didn't bring enough money anymore after being defeated by Lady Twombley ?SonOfTheExiles wrote: ↑October 14th, 2020, 8:58 pmhttps://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/bellesstratagem_silvertongue_2_128kb.mp3

Todd,
I am willing to help this project along by doing the Stage Directions, if you will have me.
Thanks,

Thanks! Happy to get a chance to do more than just hold a tray and curtsy like I did in the last show...
Here's Mrs. Racket, who believes in speaking her mind --

Here is the short appearance of Kitty Willis. I had fun pretending to be a naive country wench I only hope Mattea sounds a bit similar in her portrayal as Mrs Touchwood. It has to be credible that Courtall would fall for the trick. Maybe I should have waited for her role to come in first But I went for genuinely naive and shy and was hoping that would be not too far off the mark.

Janet Colgate (from the movie "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels") ... "Fellas, last year I made 3 million dollars, but your 50 thousand was the most fun. Are you ready? Then let's go get 'em."

I hadn't noticed it before I got to it, but at the end of Act 5 I read the Epilogue. If you don't want it, of course you can cut it out, but I thought it tied up the play very nicely.
I tried to send these in yesterday, but half way through the upload my internet went down. Finally started again.

wow, Kelly, this was really a performance. Mrs Racket is an extremely boisterous femme-du-monde here. I had to laugh with you each time you burst out laughing it was contaminating. This is a great character to act out with and you managed brilliantly to give her the needed panache. I loved it !
All acts PL ok. Thank you so much !

hi Wayne, and thanks for the quick turn-around. The stage directions are always eagerly awaited.Kalamareader wrote: ↑October 18th, 2020, 1:41 pmHere are the Stage Directions for the play:

I started on the first two and there are quite a few cuts I need to suggest. Quite often you include the names of the characters, but on many other occasions you don't. I didn't see a system behind when you include them and when you leave them out. So this confused me.
Our rule of thumb is: if there is a stage direction at the beginning of the speech, you include the name, if not, you don't.
I marked down all the names that can be cut. Best to start at the end of the file, then all your time stamps stay the same.
PL notes for Act 1:
> at about 0:21: Question for Todd: Do you want to include the short dedication "To the Queen" ?
> also same place: please include the cast list: read the list as it's written, like this:
"Dramatis Personae – Men – Doricourt, read by... – Hardy, read by ... [etc] – Women – Letitia Hardy, read by... [etc]"
Then you correctly start with "Act 1 Scene 1"
the following names can be cut:
> at 0:33: "Saville"
> at 0:50: "Servant"
> at 1:20: "Porter"
> at 1:41: "Tradesman"
> at 2:18: "Frenchman"
> at 2:41: "Flutter"
> at about 3:49: missed line: "Letitia, pausing"
PL notes for Act 2:
> at 0:29: "Doricourt" - cut
> at 0:32: "Sir George, contemptuously" – you need to include the name here, as the voice qualifier should come at the beginning (often in old scripts the "aside" and other qualifiers are put behind the sentence they refer to, I agree it's annoying, as we have to be extra vigilant)
> at 1:18: "Mrs Racket" – cut
> at 1:37: "Miss Ogle, sneeringly" – name must be included, as above
> at 1:45: "Lady Frances, returning" - same here
> at 2:39: "Silvertongue" - cut
> at 2:47: "First Lady, aside" - name included
> at 2:56: Enter Lady Frances, Mrs. Racket, and Miss Ogle. – you say "Miss Racket"
> at 3:07: "Lady Frances" - cut
> at 3:10: "Lady Frances, confused" - name included
> at 3:15: "Courtall, aside" - name included
Will check out the next acts a bit later.
Sonia
Yes, I would like to include this.PL notes for Act 1:
