The Black Cat Vol. 01 No. 09 June 1896 by Various ( - ).

This project is now complete! All audio files can now be found on the catalog page for this project https://librivox.org/black-cat-01-09-jun1896-by-various/
The Black Cat (1895-1922) was a monthly literary magazine, publishing original short stories, often about uncanny or fantastical topics. Many writers were largely unknown, but some famous authors also wrote original material for this magazine.<br>
The ninth issue offers the following 5 stories:<br>
"The House across the Way", by Leo Gale / ''Mrs Sloan's Curiosity", by Mabell Shippie Clarke / "The Seaweed Room", by Clarice Irene Clinghan / "The Second Edition", by Geik Turner / "The Luck of Killing Day", by McPherson Fraser ( Sonia)
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.

Claiming is restricted to one section per reader, to have the maximum of different voices in this project.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/TheBlackCatV01no12189609/The Black Cat v01no09 (1896-06)/mode/2up
    5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

And here's the 9th issue of this entertaining magazine launched 8-) Another 5 stories waiting for their readers !

Like in the previous issues, I want to keep this as a one-story-per-reader-project so we can have the maximum of voices in each magazine.

Let the fun begin anew :9:

Yes...25 pages :? I do hope we find a brave soul to tackle this one. The title looks promising lots of chills at least.

Hello Ceridwen (is this a Celtic name ? sounds beautiful :9: )

a warm welcome to our forum, and to the Black Cat project in particular :) I'm happy to hear a new voice in this project, some new readers have already had their first recordings in one of the previous magazines. 8-)

However, before you start recording, I would strongly advice to complete a one-minute-test first. This is to check that your technical settings are all up to LV standard.
You can read all about it here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test

Please post the test in the Listeners Wanted forum: viewforum.php?f=21 and someone will check it and give you feedback or advice if needed.

As soon as the test is ok'ed, please post the results back here, and then I can assign you the section officially and at that point I will also create your personal reader page for you.

For the moment, I will reserve the section for you for one month, to give you time to sort out the test. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. :)

Good luck with the test ! And I'll be seeing you soon ! :D

well I actually had a listen myself ;) and gave you feedback in the thread. Apart from the background noise, all is well. Please try the noise-cleaning and then you'll be all set.

So excited to hear your story !!

you are good to go, I already replied to your test-thread

So as promised, here is your reader page: https://librivox.org/reader/15121 where you will see all your projects listed in which you participate. With time it will become a nice portfolio and it's handy to keep track which sections you have claimed and are still outstanding or have PL notes. (see under "Reader Section Details")

Now Section 2 is officially reserved for you for 2 months. In the first post you can read all the details on how to say the intro and outro disclaimer correctly, and how to name the finished file.

If you have any questions still, please don't hesitate to ask. :) And for the rest...happy recording and I hope you like the story. I'm looking forward to hearing it. :9:
