Here's my reading of the last chapter of sketch of the mosquito shore:

https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/fffn01_sketchofthemosquitoshore_gregormcgregor_eldn_128kb.mp3

(there are 3 or so 15 second sections where the audio is iffy that I can't fix unless I rerecord everything, seeing as how it took me long enough, I will submit it as is for now).

I'll check it out hopefully its not too bad! :)

Just to clarify, you do know you can cut/paste small sections of audio right? I make a gazillion mistakes everytime I read, if it wasn't for the ability to do small re-recordings, I'd never get any passage right! :P

In finally got this prooflistened! Overall, you got the text pretty right (not going to ding anyone on some of those a hard obscure Spanish words), but there were a few technical issues where you mic cut out/had its sound get corrupted. Mostly the odd mic tap didn't take away from the flow but the following sections could use retakes when the audio gets corrupted for brief periods.

1:50- 1:59
6:00- 6:12
7:08-7:12
8:25-8:30
9:17-9:20
12:15-12:30
14:50-15:05
15:26- 15:35
16: 45- 16:55
17:30- 17:35
23:50-23:55
25:05-25:30

Also for the for the intro / outro could you call the piece "Excerpt from Sketch of the Mosquito Shore" , as it's not the whole book you're reading, just a chapter! ;)

By the way, I'm so happy to see this story get realized in audio! The evil con man's pitch sounds remarkably familar to so many modern internet scam's; it's a fascinating but really tragic story of all the poor settlers who invested their life savings buying land in this fake country...

It appears Adam hasn't been around to respond to the last few posts. I've updated the Magic Window.

I've also removed the claimant on the Moon Hoax (section 1), since he claimed it back in May and hasn't been back since.

Lector1 wrote: July 13th, 2020, 2:05 pm I signed up to read "Lincoln the Lover", but something important just came up and I won't be able to do any LV work for a few months. I haven't gotten feedback on this recording yet, but I have until the end of the day tomorrow. If the file isn't good as is, please reassign it. I had fun with this. Sorry I can't do any more work on it!
Definitely more than just the odd error, there's quite a bit of repeated words. I'm only halfway through. Are you interested in coming back to this at some point if I post the corrections?
I'm going through and adding the source material and authors to the metadata. This text was published in 1929. As such, it's not PD for another few years (January 2025). I'm deleting it from this collection.

It's a shame to put all that work into it. Lector - if you're around in 2025, feel free to submit it to a new project!
