PL Notes Section 12 Wealth, Part 2

I found Carnegie's comments on wealth vs Socialism very enlightening. In his Autobiography, (Episode 15) he introduces his wife and explains how they spent some of his great wealth upgrading and refurbishing the remote, enormous, crumbling Skibo Castle in Scotland, and then willed it to the country when he died. Very generous! The state couldn't maintain it and finally sold it to some private investors who now run a private club and golf course, charge a fortune for membership, open it yearly for public tours, and I'm sure pay a boatload in taxes! All thanks to Carnegie.

Thanks for your fine contribution, Tom. This was a very pleasant listen. Just a few little notes:

13:35 designed to keep it in certain channels, you say destined
16:05 Should read "Is it not evident to all, that the", you say "Is it not evident all those, that the
29:52 end quote after last line of poetry, would pair well with the quote earlier.
32:46 should say End of Section 12, you say 11.

Thanks for the careful listen and helpful PL notes, Michele. I'll make the changes this evening and upload them again.

Best,

Thank you, Michele. I think all of the edits have been completed and double-checked.

Please let me know if you need me to PL any of your sections -- that was fun and a helpful learning experience.

Take care,

Tom

Section 12 is PL OK. Can't even tell where you made those edits. Bravo!

Thanks for the offer to PL. I will shortly be putting up another Carnegie project, "Triumphant Democracy". Be on the lookout for it over in Readers Wanted, Books as soon as this one catalogues.

Yeah!!!!! The last few sections left are always so exciting to receive. I look forward to listening, hopefully tomorrow. I gotta get busy figuring out a cover for our project.

In future, don't forget to post your time, see below, for inclusion in the Notes section of the MW. It's one of the tests our MC uses to make sure all files are stacking up right for our completed book, and helps the PL'er budget their time.

PL Notes 16 Land

Great read, Dane, and a very illuminating chapter about land distribution and the end of primogeniture.

5:10 They owned nothing, you say owed. The distinction seems important in this instance. I had no idea there were over 1 million new farms created by confiscation of the Southern plantations and distribution to the newly freed slaves!
Your volume at 86.4, is within LV range, but since you have an edit to make, the file could afford a +3 amplification closer to 89 As is, it is rather quiet.

Hi again! I uploaded a slightly edited chapter. That change was made, and I bumped up the volume a bit.

PL Notes Section 5, Wealth and its Uses
Gracious me what a long chapter. My apologies for not breaking it down into two parts, Tina, but you did a great job of keeping it interesting, and Carnegie had a lot of interesting stuff to say. (The more I go along the less I enjoy doing sections over 30 minutes.)

The only thing I would like you to change:
15:10 prairies of the west, you say puries. I did a double take on that . . . could it be a religious sect?

Michele, yes, it's long, but it does keep people reflecting! The file has been uploaded for your review. Thank you.
