Here comes Demosthenes, with a runtime of 21:08:

Interesting. I think we need to do "On the Crown" at some point

silverquill wrote: September 18th, 2020, 11:11 pm I was preparing to read Section 1, but there seems to be an error at the beginning of the text, which is printed as:

"Richard Henry Dana the elder, although he died less than twenty years in 1787, in Cambridge, four years after Washington Irving.'

Obviously, something has been omitted.

I did find this on Archive.org
https://ia800306.us.archive.org/26/items/libraryoftheworl25015gut/25015-8.txt

"Richard Henry Dana the elder, although he died less than twenty years
ago, belonged to the first generation of American writers; he was born
in 1787, in Cambridge, four years after Washington Irving."

So, I will read the above to fill in the ellipsis between "years" and "1787."

I assume that's okay,
And maybe we need to send a note to PG.
Oh, great, thanks, Larry! Yes, please, read the version according to Archive.

I was surprised to see we don't have it in English! I have done it... in Portuguese

One volume with On the Crown and the Phillipics would be a great addition to the catalog :hmm:

Thanks for the recording!

Gutenberg has 3 books with orations by him.
http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/author/2233

The second volume of the public orations has "on the crown" in it, but of course we could read the whole thing. It's just 8 hours altogether.

And the first and second volumes contain all three Phillipics as well. :D I am kinda tempted to put both volumes together as one single Librivox project. They are not THAT long anyway. :hmm:

Hello mjchannon,
Here are my PL notes for section #7. Please review and make corrections accordingly. Thank you so much; I'll check back soon.

Section #7:
5:30--omit repetition of " so that when I drew nigh to them"
7:07--"what" should be 'that"
9:22--"merrily" should be "merely"
13:00--change "to" to "of"
14:46--change "tables" to "tablets"
25:29--"therefore" should be "thereof"
**Please include a full 5 seconds of silence at the end of the recording.

True. But it might be confusing for the readers if you have to link to two text sources. Unless you find a complete one on archive or somewhere.

Hi Ava,
Please review these two notes for Section #36. If you think they should be fixed for text meaning, go ahead and do that. If you think they are okay as is, just let me know and I'll mark the section PL Okay.

At 3:04--"stated" should be "started"
At 13:31--"Be" should be "By"

Thanks,
Lora

I hope this is ok now. I fixed those mispronunciations and added 5 seconds at the end:

Sorry to be dragging my feet on Thomas de Quincey. Life got complicated, but I hope to record this week.
