Thanks so much for you DPL services.
Section 1 PL OK.

A general comment. As you are new to librivox, you can expect to develop your style and technique as you go along.
It is a pity that you have recorded all the sections before getting that input, as I may need to repeatedly make the same point.
Hopefully that won't be too much - we will see.

The one thing I did note in my survey of your readings before agreeing to be DPL is your handling of page turns.

The ideal thing is to have your text reader in a format that allows you to see the bottom of one page and the top of the next, plus the means
to scroll silently (I use a touchpad on my laptop for this purpose).
The next best is to read up to the natural break before the page turn (e.g. a comma or period), remember the text after the break,
make the page turn, make an editing mark for "close-up" (I use three clicks), then carry on with the same intonation as before.

What I've observed at least once is you get to the bottom of the page, make and audible page turn (table noise), take a breath and continue
with a much louder start. As this occured part way through a sentence, after editing to remove the gap, it will sound strange.

There's a couple of things to learn here: 1. using clicks (or claps) to visually mark edits to be made. I use two clicks for a fix-up and three for a close-up.
2. remembering your intonation (pitch, volume, speed) where you stop, so that you can re-start as if nothing had happened.

I won't be asking you to re-record, but I will be asking you to edit out these gaps as and when I find them.

Section 2 PL OK.

I do have some comments though, for your edification.

At 1:05 and 2:03, you breathed into the mic. I recommend you position the mic off-axis to reduce this.

From 7:37-7:40 is a quote. It merges into the following author's text. I had to listen to it a couple of times
to understand what was quote and what was not, because you made no distinction in your voice.

Generally in this section, you used spacing to separate a quote from non-quote.
There are three ways you can achieve this separation:
1. Use pauses (as you are doing)
2. Use a different voice (such as pitching it higher or lower)
3. Speak "quote ... end-quote".

Very constructive feedback.

Good point about page turns - I've been using Xodo in its side scrolling mode but I can see what you mean about using vertical scrolling.

Point taken on microphone placement. I have a pop filter on the way that should improve things and I'll be more careful about where I breathe. Hopefully, the later recordings are better than the earlier ones.

Something in me doesn't like quote end quote so I'll think about how I can do more with my voice.

Thanks again

Hello again. Section 3 PL OK.
Section 4 PL NOTES: 15:57, loud noise (banging table). Please remove it.
25:08, there is a sudden jump in volume, which comes as a surprise to the reader. Please reduce this a bit.

General comment, There's a fairly constant background noise at about -55dB. Anything louder (smaller -ve number) than -50dB probably needs noise reduction, IMHO. I do noise reduction as a matter of course. I tried it on on of your tracks, and it cleaned up the waveform, and didn't damage the speech. You don't need to do anything to these recordings, but it's something to keep in mind for future recordings.

Section 5 PL NOTES
At 8:36, you have a 3-second gap. This is excessive, and you typically use 1.5-2s in this context elsewhere.
At 30:02 you have a sudden increase in volume. Please adjust to the same as the previous phrase.

Section 7: PL NOTES

These both relate to the need to audibly separate quoted text from the rest.
11:49.7 - inadequate gap from preceeding text
15:13.7 - inadequate gap following quote

Reuploaded. Looking at the original text, neither of those places had quotations (which confirms what you said about an unclear divsiion between them!). Listening back, I'm sorry about the quality and the table creak. I've taken on all your feedback for the next project and I think the sound quality and consistently has improved greatly.
