Common Objects of the Country

I have at least one suggestion for a book project that I would happily volunteer to record, Common Objects of the Country by the Rev. J.G. Wood. This Is, I would guess, practically unknown, but an endearing and somewhat unintentionally amusing Victorian guidebook. I have read parts of this (and others in the series) to my wife with great mirth. In my profession as a teacher and making short video documentaries I have done some voice-over work. Thanks for looking into this guys. I'm surprised what is actually out there. I bought this book from a used bookshop in England probably 30 years ago when I was a student, then found another of his (Common Objects of the Microscope) in Pittsburgh some 15 years later. He takes such a subjective view of the the animals he encounters - the impudent shrew etc, but with such well mannered scientific pretensions that it makes me grin at least. I think I would have liked the Rev. JG.

I'm a newbie to this forum, so I need to look into what the next step is. The technical side to recording is no object as I have a well equipped studio. More about the protocols of the LibriVox community etc. Take 5.

First step is the one-minute test. We have some specific tech settings we need (128 constant MP3, 44100 Hz sample rate, etc.), and the test is the easiest way to get all that ironed out, even for VO artists that don't need their volume or background noise or plosives corrected.

Thanks for the hand-holding, Tricia. I did some reading in the "new projects" forum, which pointed me to the LibriVox uploader. Is there a separate username / password for this as it does not appear to accept my forum login info? Sorry, I really am trying to figure things out here!

There is indeed a separate login for the uploader. If you go to http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test and look under the heading "Upload your file and get feedback" at point 1.2 you will see it. I hope this helps

It's very cute, and very short, too. Would be ideal for a first-time soloist. I like it, but I'll leave it for someone else. (I knew a guy named JG Wood. Reading his name for every intro would be.... weird.
