Zoom meeting video
Pacific. I was thinking 6pm PDT, which would work for North America and Australia. If it turns out worthwhile then another like at 8 am for US and Europe. One hour in length. The SU has a paid Zoom account I can use.

Very good. With a paid account you can record the session to Zoom and that would be better for posting the link later.
What are your thoughts on logistics? I like the 6 pm PDT, Date, spreading the work, etc.
I was thinking of 6 pm Oct 3: Sat in NA, Sun 9 am (I think) in Aus to accommodate folks with day jobs. I’d handle any of the other logistics: announcements, communication, etc., as well as making the recording available. I would do audio-only, and distribute just to the participants - I would have group participation and wouldn’t want anyone to be inhibited thinking the larger world would have access. I don’t know if I would get more, but I’m thinking I would limit it to 20 for the first go-round. Thoughts?philchenevert wrote: ↑September 15th, 2020, 5:02 pmVery good. Thanks. We actually were closed down by zoom when our time expired, then it suddenly opened up again and some people came back and we had even more uprorious fun.....but I did not click the record button so it is lost forever. I agree that having the Zoom info in signature is good. BUT - the unintended (I assume unintended) result is that we are now being denied "The Punny Funny Philosophies of Phil" from his signature line. Such as the most recent groaner "Plateaus are the greatest form of Flattery".Rapunzelina wrote: ↑September 15th, 2020, 3:10 pm You are a brilliant host, Phil!
I was thinking that you could put a link to your invitation post in your signature. With all the posting you do around the forum, it might be a good way for more people to see the invitation.
I may have to open a new "The Punny Funny Philosophies of Phil's Signature" thread and see if people can remember all the great Words of Phil so they get saved for all time....
Thanks, Todd
Possibly --depends on the day. I'll try to get up at 2am--it is a Sunday after all, so I can always sleep later. And then I tend to have the odd sleepless night (wandering trough the house, knitting and drinking coffee) anyway).philchenevert wrote: ↑September 15th, 2020, 1:30 pm
So..... if i moved the time to Noon Central it would be better for you, eh?

Well, those gone with the passage of time Todd, like little beautiful soap bubbles that float by but vanish into the mists of the past. Or you can poke them and make 'em pop. your choice. note I can add a tiny joke now. It ain't much but it's honest work.I may have to open a new "The Punny Funny Philosophies of Phil's Signature" thread and see if people can remember all the great Words of Phil so they get saved for all time....

Assuming Zoom meetings become a regular event, it may be easier to find the invite by making a separate post for each session: "Zoom Meeting Invite, Specific Date, Specific Time..."
I plan to participate in this coming Saturday's Zoom event. That is usually the night where I drink a couple of glasses of wine, so I'll probably be the participant enjoying a glass of CSW (cheap, sweet wine) vintage February.

Most excellent. I hear that was a fine month for those exotic wines.MaryinArkansas wrote: ↑September 16th, 2020, 10:57 am Assuming Zoom meetings become a regular event, it may be easier to find the invite by making a separate post for each session: "Zoom Meeting Invite, Specific Date, Specific Time..."

The rule is to drink wines bottled in months with an 'r' in them.
Or maybe that's the rule for trimming shrubs and bushes.
Anyway...

Anyway, I think this is an excellent thing to do for LV. Please pick a date and time (2 weeks too soon?) according to your previous posts. I will be there!! By the way, I will be focusing on editing in the upcoming zoom meeting this Saturday at 7 central; talking about it in general, then having volunteers explain their approach to this essential task.
Mark, audio only? we would not be able to see anyone? or just posting the link to the audio portion? Hopefully you want to do the full zoom video as well audio.I would do audio-only, and distribute just to the participants - I would have group participation and wouldn’t want anyone to be inhibited thinking the larger world would have access.

Sorry, I wasn’t very clear. The Zoom meeting would be video; the copy would be audio-only and distributed just to the participants for their later review and use. An hour of video would be rather cumbersome and I am hesitant to publish a video with person’s name and image for the public. I think I would have to get waivers, etc. Plus I don’t want to make it inhibiting for participants.
For Sat editing discussion, want me to talk about punch-and-roll?

On thinking a bit, it was obvious what you meant Mark and only audio for review makes a lot of sense. Of course I want you to show punch and roll, that is how you record/edit and it is becoming more popular all the time.sjmarky wrote: ↑September 17th, 2020, 7:17 am Sorry, I wasn’t very clear. Hopefully I can execute a screen share. Should only occupy a couple of minutes.Of course I want you to show punch and roll, that is how you record/edit and it is becoming more popular all the time.
