I'd like to post my first submission if it meets PL requirements, of course. (My test recording was okayed a few days ago).

Sorry to be getting these last two in so late. Been a crazy month!
I think they are both timely, and hope you find them interesting.

I See and Am Satisfied by Kelly Miller 1863 –1939
https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/60003 (p. 207)
5:1.3
https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/spc207_isee_lcw_128kb.mp3

I see this author in the catalog, but nothing of his recorded. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelly_Miller_(scientist)

His intro from the book:

"Dr. Kelly Miller is professor of sociology in Howard University. He has been professor of mathematics. He is the author of several prose works—able expositions of aspects of inter-racial problems. It is rumored that he is a poet. However that may be, his admirable volume of essays entitled Out of the House of Bondage concludes with a strophic chant, highly poetical, and poured forth with the fervor of some old Celtic bard, triumphant in the vision of a new day dawning."

======================

Caste and Christ by H.E.B. Stowe 1811–1896
https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/62962
2:31
https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/spc207_castechrist_lcw_128kb.mp3

Author better known as Harriet Beecher Stowe, but she used just initials in this book for this poem, so read it as such.

Hi! This is my first contribution! I'd like my catalog name to be Evan Mantler. I don't have a website or anything to link to. Please let me know if I need to change anything for this time or if you have some tips/critique for my next recording!

Hi! I recorded this for the Weekly Poetry and was late so it was suggested that I submit it here. Thank you!

Sneaking in pretty near to closing time, but here are my three for this month. Tried to find a couple that weren't in the catalog yet so I could justify adding my own reading of Ozymandias

Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792 - 1822)

Always happy to edit if need be :D

Doing some catching up! Thanks for your patience! And there's no hurry, late contributions will still be accepted because cataloguing will be delayed a few days this time...

Thank you for your contributions, Larry! Not late at all! PL OK and in the Magic Window!

Welcome to the Poetry Collection, Evan, and thank you for your recording! Nothing needs changing; in fact it's well read, with proper emotion, and inspiring to hear. Congrats on your first ever contribution! Here's your Reader Page in the catalogue: https://librivox.org/reader/14880 which you can also access through your name-link in the magic window. It lists all projects you read for, so it may look a bit empty now, but I hope you enjoy recording and gradually fill it up! It can also help you keep track of your sections in ongoing projects, under the Reader Section Details link.

Thank you! Tech specs are spot on! I do hear a weird whistling sound at the beginning, but it goes away after about 5 seconds, so I wonder if it's something like the microphone warming up or something... If you also notice that, and it happens each time, maybe it's worth waiting (recording silence) for the first five seconds before reading the text, and then cutting those off :hmm: Because the rest of the recording has a nice, clear sound! Still, the recording is fine, expressively read and PL OK, marked so in the Magic Window!

Change of plans! I will be home tomorrow so cataloguing will take place with no delays; or at least start. Who knows how long it takes to complete...

It's perfect timing! Thank you for your recordings!

Just two small notes to keep in mind for future recordings. I am often having to change the bitrate of your recordings during cataloguing, but not always, which makes me suppose that you use Audacity for other works, too, and have to change between the two settings, but sometimes forget. So, a heads-up on the bitrate.
The other thing is to please leave at least half a second of silence at the beginning of the recording. My media player tends to cut off that bit when playing the recordings... (I was hearing 'Oy in death! ) That is actually why we advise the starting and ending silence.
Thanks!

I will now be commencing cataloguing!
