OK, Darryl, you are in our catalog now as djpentz, and in the Magic Window (MW) for 3 sections. You have 2 months to complete these, or post notice you want to return them to the pool (but of course we'd prefer them sooner so our projects don't languish on and on). It is too easy, Librivox being like a candy store full of irresistible goodies, to sign up for too many projects at once.

You can always check on the status of your workload by typing your username into the search box on the home page or clicking on it wherever it appears, then click "Reader Details". It shows all your commitments and where they stand in the process towards completion. Once the project catalogues, it is removed from this list, but shows permanently on your first page.

PL NOTES for Empire section 06:

5:7.5 heard "zohl-vuh-ren" This is a German word, Zollverein, which should be pronounced "zohl-fur-eye-n" (I won't be surprised if this note will be ignored! Do so if you like.) Zoll = Customs Duty; Verein = Union or organization
It's a concept akin to today's European Economic Union, but it applied only within Germany, not all of Europe.
This mispronunciation appears a second time a few seconds later.

7:16 heard "but by the few rich"
s/b "but by the rich few"

12:01 heard "OF 1,800 millions"
s/b "ABOVE 1,800 millions"

These divergences from the text seem very unimportant when compared with the amazingly fluid reading of the text. But there they are. Good Job!

In one of those purely serendipitous moments of life, I may be one of the few Librivoxers who could have accurately pronounced "Conneaut," a small and now obscure town in northeast Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie and which figures prominently in this chapter, because it is my home town. (And Bessemer, too!) I had no idea what chapter 21 was about when I signed up to read it, but there it is.

Whenever I'm not familiar with a proper name or word, I always do a search for "pronounce x". Most of the time I come up with something that passes for correct . . . but not always!

Only 2 small errors, both mispronouncing proper names:
8:52 "Babbit, for Babbit's metal", I hear Bam-bit, both times.
13:50 Hamilton, I hear Ha-mule-ton.
All else very well read! An interesting chapter, and nice listen.

What, not even an occasional beer?
