Thank you for your recording!

One thing that does need correction is the silence at the end, where you have about one second. We need something close to 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.

Near the beginning there are a couple of place where there is noticeable background noise. Cold be traffic or rushing water. I think we can still accept it, but see if you can improve it. The times are at 0:37 – 0:42 and 1:44 – 1:48
I will also comment that when at 2:51 when you begin “Text 2” the dramatic change in audio is quite jarring. Again, probably not necessary to correct, but something to keep in mind for future recordings. I'm not sure if you recorded the first part at a different time or what. It is best to record a single section in one session when possible, because it is often difficult to match the audio.

At least add the five seconds at the end. Then upload the new recording under the same file name and post a note here again with the link and new file length.

Thank you again for recording this chapter about one our missionary heroes.

Lisa! Superb recording. :)
Just a couple of tech things to take care of.
First, your ending silence at 7 seconds is a bit long. We need something closer to 5 seconds.
Of greater importance is the volume. Our target is 89 dB with an acceptable range of 86 - 91 dB.
Your recording comes in quite high at 93.2 dB. I had to crank it down just to listen comfortably.
If you are using Audacity, just use the Amplification feature and set it to -4 and you should be fine.

Just upload your corrected file under the same name and post the link and new length here again.

I use two tools for checking volume.

The first is a little program called Checker https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Checker, written specifically for LibriVox. Just drag a file into the Checker window to check validation on all LV specs, including a readout of actual volume in decibels. Use the Amplification feature in Audacity to bring the volume closer to the LV target of 89 dB.

The second is an Audacity plugin called ReplayGain https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Measuring_Volume_within_Audacity. Running this feature will give a value of plus or minus dB from the LV target of 89 dB, and then the Amplification feature can be used to adjust the file before exporting.

Hi again. @silverquill
Here is the edited version:
https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/casketofcameos_11_boreham_128kb.mp3

I have done the following:
1. Added 5 sec of silence to the end
2. Reduced the noise in the noted sections (0:37 – 0:42 and 1:44 – 1:48)

Yes, you were right. I had recorded the part prior to "Text 2" separately.
Thank you for the valuable advice and for proof listening.

I can redo the whole thing if needed.

Thanks again for this chance

I have this in the MW ready for Spot PL.

No need to redo the whole thing. That creates significantly more work, both for you and for your DPL. And the chances are high that there may be some other mistake or something that still needs to be corrected with the new recording.

As far as recording in mutliple sessions, Larry's suggestion is a good one (that is, record the whole section at one time). However, this isn't always possible, especially if you are reading a very long section. Some people find that their voice is only good for about a half hour or so of recording, and then they need to take a break. There are a couple of things you can do to avoid the jarring difference in sound between one recording session and the next.

Your best bet is, if possible, to have a dedicated recording space where you can leave things set up pretty much all the time. If that isn't possible, then make sure that your recording setup is one that you are able to reproduce easily. That is, your chair, your computer, your microphone are all in the same spot they were in last time, and you know you'll be able to set them up again in the same spot again next time. If your microphone is closer to or further away from you than it was the last time you recorded, then the sound will be different, for instance.

Once you've done your best to keep the same setup every time, if you are still noticing a difference in the sound, it can often be as easy as amplifying the part of the recording that was done at a different time, so that the volume is relatively even throughout. In any case, try not to worry about it too much at this time. The more recording you do, the better you will get at it, and the better you'll get at editing your recordings also. You'll get to know the editing tools available to you and find a process that works for you. :)

Absolutely no need to record anything again.
As I said, the only thing that really needed correcting is the silence at the end.
The noise reduction resulted in some distortion, but certainly acceptable.
This is all a learning process, so just giving some suggestion for further improvement. Devorah has given you a lot of good tips, so I won't repeat them here. Keep on moving forward!

Your recording is marked PL OK.

Just picking up your notes today after a period of "other things". I'll get this turned around for you in a few days. My apologies for not replying sooner.
