Zoom?
My better half says that if this is your first time as a host, Zoom probably won’t cut it off at 40 minutes

Pop away Hugh, we would love to have you zoom. The future beckons .... maybe. No, wait, that's a traffic cone.
I was on an audio Zoom that was recorded and then released as a podcast. Went very smoothly.philchenevert wrote: ↑August 27th, 2020, 1:07 pm You can indeed record audio, at least the host can I know for sure. A Drama could be recorded 'live' and edited later. ??HMMMM/mmm? But I just want to dabble a bit in this forbidden pool of technology and see what bobs up.

I like the idea of a LibriVox Zoom meeting. An appropriate theme might be: “Why xxx is my favorite LibriVox book (or reader) to listen to when I’m drinking xxx my favorite coffee (or xxxx)”. Something along those lines.
That could be a good getting to know you theme.
This forum seems the best for inviting people. You might invite via PM some LibriVox people you’ve worked with in appropriate area time zones.
This is assuming that the event is still on, in spite of Hurricane Laura.

You bet it is still on Mary! Hurricane Laura missed us in Baton Rouge so everythig is still go. Sunday, Noon Central Standard Time, Aug 30. I am feeling confident about this which is kinda scary in itself. The topic will be nothing in particular (except what coffee or beverage you like to drink while surfing the LV website; that is mandatory). I see this as just a fun time to see others and talk a bit about the potentialities of Zoom to help us in liberating books. This is assuming that the event is still on, in spite of Hurricane Laura.
When I asked about this six months or so ago, my thought was that we could give quick, individual help/instruction where someone with a problem could see my monitor as I explained stuff. There seemed to be problems like whether the person needed Zoom installed and other things that would make it unwieldy.
Anyway, we are a smart group of people with lots of experiences from all areas of life and the globe that may see a way to use this new technology. Or we could just have fun talking to each other face to face every once and awhile..?

I'll try to be there. Although I'll be driving home from church at that time. So if I can't figure out a way to safely mount my phone and have it started before I start driving, then you won't see me.

Hey everyone, there will be a fabulous ZOOM get together at Noon central (in 12 minutes). The invite is somewhere above in this thread. I think you need zoom installed to join but that's one thing I'd like to confirm. Anyway y'all come on in! This is a kinda trial so any and all comment are welcome. If you have a camera set it up. I am on the beach somewhere enjoying the warm breezes.

I have a prepared document I'll be reading. I won't need more than ten minutes.

Somebody let Phil know that I'm sitting in the waiting room. And it's boring in here! Not even any pictures on the walls or magazines to read!
