Here is my next poem. I hope this text URL is acceptable this time, and it confirms this poem is public domain.

Title: The remedy worse than the disease

Author: Matthew Prior (1664-1721)

Duration: 00:56

Text URL: http://www.yourdailypoem.com/listpoem.jsp?poem_id=364

Thanks!

Ike
Thank you, Ike, for this little humorous poem! Nicely read! You accidentally misread the title as "The remedy worse than the cure" if you could fix that.

Well, if a work can be found at gutenberg.org, I'd much rather use them as the text source, so there you go: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/2622/2622-h/2622-h.htm#link2H_4_0160 :D

I hope all's well with you!

Here're three sonnets by Shakespeare for the poetry collection:
And here's the link to their text: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/1041/1041-h/1041-h.htm

As is the norm, should you find anything off-key, let me know and I'll key it in! :-D

Always,
Garfield
Awesome performance!
Because you can't have a complete poetry collection, without some Shakespeare! :D Thank you, Garfield!

That's great! Can I ask you to add the phrase "This recording is in the public domain" at the end? Then it will be a complete Librivox recording! :D

Hello Rapunzelina,

Here is one more poem I really wanted to share, even though I couldn't find it on gutenberg. I will be using the site more in the future though, now that I know of it.
Poem: The difference, Thomas Hardy (1840-1928)

Duration: 00:58

Text URL: https://poets.org/poem/difference-0

MP3 URL: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/spc207_thedifference_128kb.mp3

P.S. Is there a search option on gutenberg? If there is, that would help a lot.
Thanks!

Hi Rapunzelina,
I'd like to post my first submission if it meets PL requirements, of course. (My test recording was okayed a few days ago).

Misgivings by Herman Melville (1819–1891)
Text URL: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/12384/12384-h/12384-h.htm#poem2
Duration: 1:34
MP3 URL: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/spc207_misgivings_sm_128kb.mp3

The poem was recorded once here, but a few years ago, and it seemed prescient to me this election year.

I'd appreciate any feedback on my reading or editing.

I'd like to be credited as Scott McKinley in the catalog if that's okay. I don't have a web site yet, but I'll submit a URL for it when I've completed setting it up.

Thank you!

Scott McKinley

Thank you, Ike! Hardy is one of my favourites! :9: Gutenberg has a search function and it works well for Author names and book titles, but probably not so well for individual poems if you don't know in which book they were published. What I do is use the google search engine to search for a couple of lines of the poem in the gutenberg.org site. Sometimes I find it, sometimes I don't. If I can't find it on gutenberg.org, I also search bartleby.com through google, and archive.org through google. Bartleby.org offers publication information on the works it hosts. Archive.org hosts scans of the works so the publication information should be there in the scanned book. So it's OK if you want to use other sources, as long as they provide trusted publication information (publication year, book title or also publishing house) for easier cross-checking. In this respect, scanned books are a good option; they don't even need to be cross-checked.
